Daniels will likely affect the roster spots for draft choice Lester Hudson and free agent Stephon Marbury. No decisions have been finalized on either player, Ainge said.

Yikes.  Danny hasn't made a final decision on Starbury yet?  Really?  That's disappointing to here.

That fact that he went absolutely nuts in the past month or so has nothing to do with it.  Really, it doesn't.   :-\

he's a nutty dude... but i'd still be tempted to bring him back. He just needs to know that he's only going to get 10-15 minutes per game though.

If he can't deal woth that, he is not welcome on the ubuntu ship.

I was definently a fan for bringing back Steph this season, until the starbury tv stuff. We don't need that kind of distraction during the season, or even going into training camp.

Yeah, I guess he went a tad bit crazy. He's just having fun. The Vaseline thing was for his throat. He cried because the song he was listening to reminded him of his dead father (God Bless his soul). He's human. People seriously take everything he does out of proportion.

Regardless, just because he's a little crazy, people don't want him on the team. Why? Last time I checked, craziness didn't take away from being a good basketball player. Bring up team chemistry and ego all you want, but he wasn't a nuisance at all in the locker room last year. I'd def. want him back.

And on his performance last year, I thought it was decent. I know Marbury still has more left in the tank, and he can definitely contribute and bring more to the table than he did last year. A full training camp with us could let his shot fall and could allow him to fully shake off the rust. I think that's what contributed to his poor performance last year; rust. I mean, come on, cut this guy some slack. He hadn't played in 1+ years. I'm sure any NBA player who went through his situation would have done the same. That, and he wasn't used to our system. This is a guy who was never really used to playing defense. He also came off sort of timid. I guess he was trying not to be a me first kind of guy, but it ended up being his downfall. Regardless, I'd still want him back on the team.

How about he was terrible and crazy?

I think Ainge is just being polite.

You don't think so?  I would have thought the New York Knicks were the perfect example to prove that craziness does, in fact, take away from talent.  The dysfunctional leader on that team?  Starbury.

Also, of course, Starbury was statistically one of the worst PGs in the entire NBA last season.

Oh really, now? Guess you haven't seen this (and many of his other highlights while on the Knicks):

Yup, definitely looks like this guy has no talent whatsoever.

See edited post above.

And realistically guys, we're not going to find a better FA PG out there. You've gotta remember, this is a guy who has started on all the teams he has been on (minus Boston) and has averaged 19+ PPG in his career.

And Tyronn Lue over Marbury? Please tell me you're joking...

I'll just go with the politically correct "he shouldn't offer a job because he freaking sucked" excuse.

Can you believe it? Yes, that is the politically correct stance on Marbury after his Podcast fiasco.

I'd take Tyronn Lue over him at this point, and that's saying something.

4 weeks ago, I want Marbury to be back in green so bad to give him another chance.

Now I'm confused whether I want him to be back or not. I don't know what he's thinking right now. The guy went nuts :-\

Nobody said Starbury doesn't have talent, or at least nobody said that he never did.  However, his craziness absolutely has detracted from that talent, which is part of the reason why the Knicks were an absolute train wreck while he was there.  I couldn't care less about Starbury hitting a game winner; do you have youtube highlights of the literally dozens upon dozens of games the Knicks lost while he was leading them?
