Now that Big Baby is back in the fold, are we now going to see some lineups that feature 3 of our 4 big men on the court at the same time? Before people dismiss the idea for possible shortcomings, let's consider a few things.
1) 4 of our best 9 players, and arguably 4 of our best 7 players (depending on where you rank BBD in relation to House and Daniels) are big men. The simple fact of the matter is that there aren't enough minutes for all four big men to get significant minutes, so if we want to give all four significant minutes, we're likely going to have to give KG or BBD some limited minutes at the 3 spot.
2) While you can claim that KG or BBD is too slow to guard the 3, and thus a disadvantage to the team, is this really the case? Even as he's gotten older, KG is still faster than some 3s in the league. Furthermore, with his height he could stay an extra step off quicker 3s and still keep a hand in his face. Plus, for whatever troubles KG or BBD might have guarding some 3s, those 3s would have even more trouble trying to guard them.
3) And for whatever disadvantage the C's might have from playing a big at the 3, is it any bigger disadvantage that they would have playing an inferior player for 5-10 mpg? To me, I'd rather see BBD getting 10 mpg more than see Walker or Giddens get those 10 mpg.
Ultimately, I could see something like this for next year during the regular season.
PG: Rondo 35, House 13
SG: Allen 32, Daniels 16
SF: Pierce 32, Daniels 10, KG 6
PF: KG 26, BBD 15, Wallace 7
C: Perk 30, Wallace 18
Overall, this gives the team minutes like this:
Rondo 35
Allen 32
Pierce 32
KG 32
Perk 30
Wallace 25
Daniels 26
BBD 15
House 13
