I just recently started a job at Papa Gino's and as of now its cool and all ..... but..... By the time Late october comes around, I don't know if I can deal with missing like 40-50% of Celtics games  :-\. Since I work the night shift.

How do you some of you deal with this ?!?!

DVR and good friends that don't spoil the scores for you.  Just like watching it live if you can pull it off and you get to skip commercials.

Its rough man, I had the same problem working summers and missing all the sox games, but Luckily I could watch Sox in two on Nesn when I got home, Or I would tivo the games and start them when I got home from work. If you can isolate yourself from the news of the game you should be fine.

Just make sure to be patient though too because sometimes i wind of fast forwarding through freethrows and stuff and it becomes a slippery slope!

Sometimes radio and espn gamecast help. Also there are places I sometimes watch online. Granted that may not help when you are working

I had to put up with that crap during the run to #17.  I had class until 9:30 that summer.  I had to come home and fast forward through commercials.  I really didn't get anything out of those close because all I could think about is getting home and watching the game.  I would then turn my phone off so people couldn't call me or text me about the game.  I have started turning my phone off for every game now because I am superstitious.  DVR is amazing!

Explain your woes to some geeks, they should be able to help you out. Legally, that is.

have you considered heavy drinking? you still wont be able to watch the games, but at least you wont notice it.  :)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

As soon as I read the first sentence of this post I thought you were going to ask how to deal with working at Papa Gino's. And I was ready to say, "I didn't deal very well, I quit."

If possible, I'd start putting a bit of your paycheck in a designated DVR fun. I don't have one, but it's the best solution I can come up with. I'm in a tricky spot myself - no cable starting in three weeks. My friends will be skyping me the games.

It's rough.  Going to an out of region college really forced me to stay active on CB for recaps and reactions.  Luckily for me the Celtics have been on national TV a ton recently (not so much during that 24-58 season  ::) ).  I'd say DVR is your best bet.  If you don't already have one, it's a great investment IMO.  Lets you record all the games and you can fast forward through all commercials/game breaks and watch the game at your convenience.

Not so fast.  If you are working at Papa Ginos because you need the money, I'm guessing DVR may be an expenditure that you don't need to make.

How do you watch games now? If it's on Comcast, and you have access, they replay the games in the early morning for free.  Then you will only miss the game if it happens to be a national network broadcast on a night that you work.

As others have said, try the radio. See if they'll allow you to have a radio in the back on low so you can hear the games.
