Alan Hahn of Newsday reports that the Knicks could shed a 2010 contract as part of the team's pursuit of the unrestricted free-agent Jerry Stackhouse.

The only non-rookie contracts remaining on the Knicks' payroll for the 2010-2011 season are that of Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries. Presumably the Knicks are seeking a trade of one of the two.

It was reported earlier this week that the Knicks are intent on clearing more cap room for next summer before the team would sign restricted free-agent Ramon Sessions to an offer sheet.

Is there room for him on the roster?  Would he be an upgrade over Baby?  We have the expiring contracts (Scal, Giddens, TA) to get him.

jared jeffries is one of the worst players in the NBA. On the Jared Jeffries scale, Tony would be Michael Jordan.

The New York Knicks -- where role players sign huge contracts and then disappear.
Celtics fan for life.

He is not terrible.  He is a decent role-player with some huge holes in his game.  The problem is he is being paid like a starter, and he just is not that good.

So basically, if they buy him out, then we can look at him.

I agree entirely, tp for you.  One of the worst players in the NBA.  In the league purely based on unfulfilled potential.  And while yes there are other players like that, he epitomizes it.

I chuckled when he signed that contract.  I love how the NY media made it out to be a good deal at the time.  Love seeing the Knicks suck.

Jeffries is what he is - a 6'11" defensive specialist that can guard four positions. I would be very interested if the Knicks got desperate, for example:

Jeffries, Hill and Robinson ($3m per) and $3m cash
for
Scalabrine, Davis, House, Allen and Walker

New Yorks saves about $5m next season, and picks up a couple of young players on the cheap.

Boston adds a veteran defender behind Pierce, an excellent backup point guard and a promissing rookie big.

Rondo - Robinson
Allen - Daniels
Pierce - Daniels
Garnett - Wallace
Perkins - Wallace

Jeffries, Williams, Giddens, Hudson, Hill and two open spots for veteran minimum depth.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi
