Hoopsworld rumor: Davis has 4 year offer from C's

Don't we have enough frontcourt depth at this point? We REALLY need some wings. We need to sign and trade him for something.

I guess signing him for $2.5 would make him super tradeable.

  Daniels, House, Giddens, Walker and TA for Backup wings, Rasheed and Williams and Scal for backup bigs.

And potentially Bowen.  I think it's a good idea to bring BBD back into the fold.

I don't think the Celtics would be too concerned about giving BBD a long term deal at just 2.5 million per year.

I think Davis' camp would inflate that annual salary to at least 3.5 million! 2.5 is what we've heard a couple of times from the C's front office after all.

Depends on the money.  If we can lock him up at 2.5 mill a year, DA would go to 4 years, I think.  Above that who knows.  We're getting him at a bargain because of the economy, most years some team would look at his playoff numbers and overspend.

He went into FA hoping for a full MLE deal though by all reports. Maybe he expected less in the end but I'd imagine he's pretty annoyed at the lack of firm offers.

Let's hope that this hasn't caused him to be depressed forcing him to lock himself in his room and eat Twinkies all summer to get over his sadness.

Instead, let's hope we get him and that he's been extra motivated by the doubters and has been putting in hours in the weightroom and gym for the past 6 to 8 weeks.

None of us really know who's offered what but, It looks from the 'rumors' he should be slotted somewhere in 2.5/3 million range.

I'll just be thankful when he's back and scals is relegated to 'break in case of injury' status.

I don't think he'd take $10 or $12 for 4 years. I think he'd take $5 or $6 for 2 years, which would be essentially his QO for next year and a $4 or $5 million 1 year contract. But for that 4 year deal, I think he'd play for the QO and hope to get more than $11 over the following 3 years next offseason. And I think there's a good enough chance he could get $4 mil a year next offseason that it's worth it for him to play for the QO. I think that's how this situation resolves unless we trade him.

Why would BBD sign a 4 year deal for small money to come in here and ride the pine? Now that Shelden Williams is signed he will have to split minutes with yet another big as I doubt they brought him in to get no minutes at all. Scal also could take some of those minutes if he starts playing like he did prior to that head injury. There might be quite a few DNP's in sight for him.

If he doesn't get a much better offer look for BBD to sign the one year offer and become un-restricted next season where he has a better chance of getting paid. He will have one more year of proving he can play, and one more year of hopefully keeping the weight off.
