From what we have been reading, Larry Bird and the Pacers  don't want to pick up Tony Allen in a Trade for Marquis Daniels.

Pior to his January 2007 Injury Tony was looking very strong
as a slashing SG getting to the hoop.  Then came the injury
and here we are...

What 'fair' deals are there when looking to get something
back for Tony Allen and what teams would be takers?

I guess we could maybe get a Buckler beer, a bag of Tostitos, a deck of cards with a missing 7, and a few coupons to Olive Garden.

I'd take it

The Sixers wouldn't give us Willie Green for him, reportedly.  The Pacers won't take him for free, and haven't been able to get another team to take him.

In other words, despite having an expiring contract, his value is less than zero.

Tony Allen only trade value is his expiring contract. As a player, he has none. So only teams who are looking to cut costs, and who can do so by acquiring TA, will be interested in him.

So, mostly bad contracts that last multiple years. That's the type of trade value he has.

No offense to the original poster, or to TA, but I think anyone who watched TA last season should know that he's worth no more than a Gabe Pruitt rookie card and a pack of gum. I certainly WISH we could get something for TA, and it'd be great if there was a sucker out there who still thinks TA can do something in the NBA, but I'd be surprised (though pleasantly) if we could get anything decent in exchange for him. Moreover, I no longer CARE if we get anything for him ... I just want him gone so he can't commit anymore stupid turnovers and take more bad shots.

I think the only value for TA is to combine his contract with that of Scal and Giddens or Walker. Alone, his value is below zero. Combined with Scal, he brings $6 million in expiring contracts. Add Giddens or Walker and it's $7 million.

Surely some teams at the deadline will be takers on that. I think that is why DA is reluctant to trade Scals, as he alone may have little value, but the combination of the two expiring deals does have significant value.

Makes you wonder why his contract was renewed at all. I remember reading about his contract renewal and feeling dumbfounded and a little nauseous. Hope that Danny does not do anything to bring that feeling back. So far so good. Just don't understand how they could be so loyal and patient with T Allen and then turn around and cut someone like Leon loose.

maybe a few guest appearances on starbury's webcasts will boost his value
