I read in yahoo sports that Carlos Arroyo is trying to come back to the NBA after one year playing overseas (Maccabi Tel Aviv) and M.Spears reports that 6 teams are showing interest in him. Since we are looking for a back up PG and Gabe could be gone by August 1st, what do you guys think about the Arroyo possibility?. I have to admit that I haven't seen him play that much but his numbers playing for Orlando aren't bad at all. I don't know how much  he's expecting to command or if his rights still belong to the Magics but if he is an UFA and willing to make the vet minimum i would give him a shot. What do you guys think?. Can House or Hudson fill that void?

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Might be worth a shot, but I'd probably rather have Marbury.

I like Arroyo, not my first choice, but would be happy with the pickup.

I think he'll want more money than we can offer.

i'd definitely sign him.
but there must be something i'm missing here. why was he out of the league? from what i remember he could play. good shooter, played hard. killed team usa a few years back. but then i guess a lot of international players did for a while there.
i thought he was even a fan favorite in orlando with the local puerto ricean community.
i have no idea what happened to him. my guess is that he wanted more money than was offered here, but i'm sure someone on the board knows more than me.
anyway, if it was no major issue, i'd give him a shot. marbury's got more natural talent, but arroyo may be a better fit chemistry-wise.

I'm pretty sure it was a $$ thing.

With Earl Watson going to Indiana, not too many free agent options left at the PG spot.  If a S&T with New Jersey is effected, getting Dooling back in return would solve our problem, but otherwise Arroyo seems to be about as good an alternative as we reasonably have.  Rather have Arroyo or Ty Lue?

Yeah, I'm with you.
He'd be awesome to have on the bench though.

No way.

I'm not gonna lie, Arroyo can straight up ball. He can shoot the lights out, he has great handles and he can pass with the best of them when he wants to. He even led Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Israeli championship this year...

With that said, keep him away from my team! Arroyo has worn out his welcome on every team he's ever played for. He has really bad attitude problems and has been a headache for almost every coach he's ever had. I've heard Maccabi Tel Aviv doesn't want him back after he led them to a championship. That shows you the kind of character he has.

I would not mind seeing Arroyo as the backup PG. Hes reasonably young at 30, Has good size 6'2'',200lb. Would he be the Celtics best option?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

what has he been doing the last few years?  I don't think he's been playing in the NBA.  If he is still the carlos arroyo from a few years ago I think he would be just as a good an option as anyone else.

As Jeff said on the front page recently, no matter who we select at this point to play back up PG, they're gonna have some warts.

He is probably along the lines of what we're going to end up with.  Any PG we get at this pay level is going to have parts of their games we can criticize without even really trying.  That is why we get them this cheap.

I just want to see our guys get in place so that I can look at the roster and admire the work Danny's done knowing that we still have flexibility in expirings to make yet another upgrade move.

Just because he did not play in the NBA last year does not mean that hes not good enough too.Look at Josh Childress and Linas Kileza. He simply got a better deal to go overseas.

He will never play for this team. I hate him more than Vick... I will never forget him puffing out the "Puerto Rico" on his jersey right at us when they kicked our National Team when they were down.

Punk.

He's not really that good either...

Oh, I wasn't trying to make a point...I was actually asking for knowledge purposes, what has he been doing the last few years?  I didn't remember hearing his name around the NBA, but you did indirectly answered my question anyway.  So, he's been playing in Europe.  Anybody know how long he's been over there or how well he played?  Does he still resemble the Carlos Arroyo of a few years ago playing for the magic?
