I have been luke warm about BBD because of the many limitations to his game that were exposed during Garnett's injury. While it is true that we will likely be back in his back up role with Sheed in town, why not go for the best player. With Davis Lee seemingly linked to Davis' in most FA talks (and the money not being that different), who do you think is the best player (for the C's). In my view Lee is a better rebounder, passer and finisher. Not sure about his defense; but isn't he the better player?

All of this assumes that you not take into account the fact that he is RFA and that the Knicks could tie us up for a while; but with things on hold what the heck!

David Lee all the way, I like him a lot.  I think he's proven himself a lot more than Davis.  Plus Davis isn't that strong defensively in the first place.  He might be stronger, but that doesn't really matter cause we got Perk.

Lee is much better.

The money may be close this season, as Lee may take a one year deal.  Ultimately, though, Lee should get paid much more than BBD will.

Seems that the money has dried up. If I am Lee, 3yrs/8mil is better than 5yrs/10mil and if he settles for 1 yr. why not offer 3 mil. - do they really think they can get BBD for that much less?

Do you mean us?  We can't pay him that much.

I could definitely go for a S&T with BBD going to the Knicks and we get Lee...but is that even a remote possibility? I have not seen Lee and BBD linked at all in FA?

What do you think Roy?

I agree that we should not pay BBD 3 mil; but if we have to pay 3 mil, I think Lee is a much better player and I doubt he will get 3mil from the Knicks unless someone forces their hand.

I don't think it's a remote possibility.

I mean, there's been talk of Lee being signed and traded for Carlos Boozer.  That's both the caliber of player, and the type of contract, that Lee is comparable to.

We only got the LLE though.  If we were gonna S&T Davis, we'd have to give them more, which seems like a shame for a guy who would only play 10 minutes and wouldn't really come here anyway.

Good point. Hope we can get BDD for less than 3mil. Would hate to see someone of Lee's talent get away when the market seems to be under valuing him.

Lee may settle for a lower deal this year, but reportedly, he's been looking for something in the $8 to $10 million per season range.

He may take a lower deal (still, probably no less than $5 million), but if he does, it will be for one year, so that he can become an unrestricted free agent next season.

This is interesting, but what has David Lee ever done on a good team and who can he guard? Baby is very unique that he can guard very big guys  down low and outside.  And I think Baby's ceiling is higher than lee's. David Lee's ceiling is Ryan Gomes ( Not a bad player....) But Baby can be something of a unique hybrid. Power with finesse. He needs more ups and even more range on that jump shot. David lee is like a smaller jeff foster( not a bad thing) but you know what you are going to get. Baby? I might do a trade though if the numbers were good.

My biggest worry about Baby is once he gets a big contract that he'll just blowup to a fatter slower version of A Walker. Lee looks like he'll turn into a smaller  Jeff Foster. ( A good piece on a good team but not worth much to anyone else. Not 10 million a year. Both Baby and Lee are worth the same contract Scal got when he got here and that's good money.

I find it hard to hold it against a Knicks player when he's been stuck with what Isiah Thomas built around him.
