  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
"The Hornets and Bobcats are in advanced discussions on a trade that would send center Tyson Chandler to Charlotte in exchange for fellow big man Emeka Okafor, according to NBA front-office sources.

It was not immediately known if the teams are ready to complete the swap -- or if the deal would expand to include other players or teams -- but sources close to the process said talks featuring Chandler and Okafor as the main components have been ongoing since late last week.

The Bobcats will be giving up the only starting center in franchise history for Chandler, who has been plagued by a left toe injury. Chandler played in only 32 games last season and a trade to Oklahoma City was rescinded because of concerns over the injury.

The potential deal comes less than a year after Okafor signed a six-year, $72 million deal with the Bobcats. "

I smell something coming, this trade will involve another team. The Hornets are trying to shed salary and they are taking on a player with 5 years left on his contract? I think they end up moving Mo Pete or Posey as part of this trade. We could join in grab Posey and call it a day.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Why would we want to take on Posey's contract now? He's already played the cheapest year of his deal and probably his best year as he's going to continue to decline as a player. Add to that the fact that we gave Sheed the full MLE for three years, it's not going to happen.

Especially when we're already working on bringing in a younger swing for much cheaper.

There better be something more to this than Chandler for Charlotte or MJ has officially passed Chris Wallace as the worst GM in the history of the game. Okafor  is a legitimate borderline all-star and Chandler is at best a disappointment. If I am Okafor I am happy to get off the sinking ship though...

Why the hell would Charlotte do this?  Does this save them money?

I'd take Emeka over Tyson any day of the week.

Saves them a lot of long term money. Chandler's deal only has two more years.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

In that case, why do the Hornets do this?  Aren't they bleeding cash as much as or more than the Bobs?

The Hornets will save $5.15 to $6.8 million over the next two years depending on whether or not they end up in the luxury tax in 2010/11. Not huge savings, but substantial all the same ... especially when you're getting a comparable talent in exchange.

Okafor is better than Chandler.
I'm not sure about that. Why do you think Okafor is better?

This took some "playing w/ the numbers" to work so enjoy CBs...

Boston gets Rasual Butler and Marquis Daniels(5.1mil)

Indiana gets Antonio Daniels, Giddens, and Devin Brown + Bos Trade exp

New Orleans gets Scal, Tony, Pruitt and Brandon Rush + Bos Trade exp

Boston gets their SF and backup PG WITHOUT using the 1.9 Biannual exp and without losing BBD. Indiana gets their PG option for injury prone TJ Ford plus they get a new SG and 2 young talents. New Orleans cuts 9 mil in payroll and 3 players that wont get contracts from them next season. Plus they get a good SG in Brandon Rush.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Okafor/Chandler swap almost done

Obviously, not everything has been worked out yet, but I gotta say I think I like this more for New Orleans.
