they probably do a deal like BBD, SCal and TA to NJ giving them two expiring deals plus bbd,  Indy gets Dooling and We would get Yi, Daniels, Najera and Williams.

This will allow us to use our LLE to sign a point like Marbury and opens a roster spot to bring back Powe.

Rondo  Marbury
Allen   House  Giddens
Pierce   Daniels   Walker
Garnett   Yi    Najera   Powe
Perkins  Sheed  Williams

Wouldn't this be the ideal situation for the Celtics. Get rid of Scal & Tony, get Williams & Yi, and keep JR & Bill. Wishful thinking, but not happening. For this to work, Danny has a lot of convincing to do. Work your magic Danny.

I don't see Indy wanting or needing Dooling. They are signing Earl Watson, and they have other PG's on the roster.

Personally if the 3 way is with Indy and NJ, I would prefer Dooling or Courtney Lee and Yi, along with Daniels.

If we give up Gabe,TA, Walker, and Scal in these deals, we sign another big like Ben Wallace or Joe Smith with the LLE, or maybe we go for Warrick or Diogu, if you want to go younger.

This took some "playing w/ the numbers" to work so enjoy CBs...

Boston gets Rasual Butler and Marquis Daniels(5.1mil)

Indiana gets Antonio Daniels, Giddens, and Devin Brown + Bos Trade exp

New Orleans gets Scal, Tony, Pruitt and Brandon Rush + Bos Trade exp

Boston gets their SF and backup PG WITHOUT using the 1.9 Biannual exp and without losing BBD. Indiana gets their PG option for injury prone TJ Ford plus they get a new SG and 2 young talents. New Orleans cuts 9 mil in payroll and 3 players that wont get contracts from them next season. Plus they get a good SG in Brandon Rush.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Here's an update from Mark Murphy. Most of it we already know:
http://bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view/20090728celtics_indy_reworking_marquis_daniels_deal/

Quote
Marquis Daniels has agreed to come to the Celtics [team stats], and his former team, the Indiana Pacers, have agreed to sweeten the pot for the player by cooperating in a sign-and-trade deal.

The only problem is Indiana’s compensation. Two league sources confirmed yesterday the Celtics and Pacers are seeking a third team to facilitate the trade.

The problem is believed to be Indiana’s lack of interest in guard Tony Allen, whom the Celtics offered to the Pacers. The Celtics also reportedly have attempted to include guard Gabe Pruitt and forward Bill Walker in the package.

Though in the market for another wing player, the Pacers want something the Celtics aren’t willing to offer.

The Pacers, beset by past citizenship issues, reportedly are reluctant to bring in Allen. The guard’s offcourt issues, including death threats in Chicago that required extra bench security during last spring’s playoffs, cut against the grain of Pacers president Larry Bird’s attempt to move away from the legacy of Ron Artest and Jamaal Tinsley.

“They need a third team, and that’s complicated,” one source said. “No other teams have jumped at it so far.”

Daniels has agreed to join the Celtics, though the 6-foot-6 swingman would make more by coming in a sign-and-trade deal than for the $1.9 million biannual exception the Celtics can offer in a straight free agent signing.

Though the Celts have attempted to include restricted free agent Glen Davis in several sign-and-trade deals with other teams, sources with the C’s and New Jersey shot down a rumor yesterday that both teams were attempting to make such an arrangement work.

Though the Nets have not approached Davis with an offer sheet, they have made their interest known in the young power forward - interest that still could emerge in the form of a sign-and-trade. Other potential suitors, including Detroit, have shied away from Davis with the belief the Celtics will match any offer under $5 million.

I can't believe Tony Allen has made himself into such a useless player that he now has negative trade value, even one a $2.5 million expiring contract.  Way to go, Tony.  Keep on hanging with your posse.

So it must be Giddens that Bird wants and Danny won't part with him.

I get the sense that Indiana is willing to take on just about any player on our roster, so long as it isn't Tony Allen.  They want to accommodate Daniels so long as they can get a end-of-rotation caliber guard out of the deal who has a clean record.  Sadly, that's not Tony.

The most we can trade Walker + Pruitt for is approximately $2 million, which is the amount of the LLE.  It doesn't make Daniels any more money, and it doesn't save us any (since both players are on minimum deals, of which Pruitt's is non-guaranteed) which is the purpose of the trade.

I bet he isn't moved by then, and that we just cut him. He could be used in one of the trades as cap filler, but what can we do? Indy's in the driver's seat in this trade, because we want it badly to happen.

I think his only value will come at the trade deadline, packaged with Scal, and Walker or Giddens.

IF he doesn't go within a week from now.
