i'll save my "dynamic offense" rant for another time, since i'm bound to go on forever...

i think we get a bad rap in terms of people judging team defense.  People see troy murphy at the 5 and think we'll be in trouble.  Reality is that Kidd, Marion, and Smith are all (at minimum) above average defenders when they dig in.  Concerns over Terry's height are legit, but he can always be swiched onto the PG and have Kidd cover the 2-guard.  Murphy is undersized, but rebounds like a fiend and is a very cerebral player; he will take his medicine from time to time, but that's what old friend Erick Dampier is on the roster for.

When we need to go big, we can go Dampier, Murphy, Smith, Daniels, and Kidd.  When we need shooting we can go Murphy, Marion, Stojakovic, Terry, Blake.  Basically our flexibility allows us to match up in any situation while also imposing our punishing up-tempo offense on the opposition.

Defense worries me less than who plays in the post? Every player you have but Dampier likes to start at the perimeter.

Not sure what that means, but all accounts are that Afflalo will be starting in Denver because of his Defense and 3 point shooting

Exactly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Wilkins

The Cavaliers hoped that Wilkins would be the final piece of the puzzle and play his notorious defense in order to finally defeat Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. He was even labeled as "the Jordan stopper." However, in the 1993 Eastern Conference Semifinals, Wilkins learned that the help defense he benefitted from in New York would not be around and Jordan scored countless points whilst being guarded by Wilkins, humiliating him and making the Cavaliers' ultimate plan a failure.

You basically proved my point.  He was a failure as a Jordan stopper because of no help defense.  My team loads of help defense, which is what I said originally.  And I still ask how many points can Boston Put up against my team?

Yes your help defense would be great, if your player was Gerald Wilkins, who it isn't.

Thank you, also Marcus Camby is the most overrated defender in recent memory.

it's true, we don't have a prototypical post player, but Josh Smith does most of his damage around the basket, and with Murphy keeping his defender honest, it should keep a bit more of the lane open for Marion and Smith to weave their way into space.

i tried to model this team to look somewhat like the early 2000 nets and the suns teams from a few years back.  Kenyon Martin was more of a face up player for jersey and Amare, though very good in the post, also prefered and still does prefer to attack his man from a triple threat position on the elbow.  Obviously Josh Smith isn't quite at the level of Amare, but the dynamics of his game (mixed with the others) allows this offense to succeed in either a breaking mode or at a slower pace....obviously our intentions are to force the pace though.

No, because its accolades like that, coupled with the fact that his teams never win and his injury history, that prove my point.

Well he's been on the NBA All Defensive team for 4 years as well as defensive player of the year, so it looks like the people that know what they are talking about disagree with you

And each of those years , he was the only player whose team reahed the playoffs and then proceeded to do nothing. Camby puts up defensive numbers on help D, but gets shredded one-on-one like when he had to cover Duncan in the playoffs in 2008 and 2007.

The last two times he was on the 1st team all defense, he was on the Nuggets, he was the only player that played defense. Your bound to block shots when your the only person guarding the basket.
