In this age of tight money, I was surprised to see today's signing of Solomon Jones. This is right after signing McRoberts and drafting Hansborough and Indiana already has Murphy and Dunleavy (when healthy) on the roster. Bird gave praise to McRoberts when he signed him and gushed about Hansborough. To me this means he must have a trade with Murphy in mind (I am assuming no one wants Dunleavy until he is proven healthy). I am wondering what kind of implications that will come up with the expected sign and trade for Daniels. Bird and Ainge might have some sort of 3 way trade in mind.

The Jones signing puts Indiana at six big men, I believe.  That's about average on an NBA roster, so I don't think this is evidence of an imminent trade of Murphy or another big.

(Murphy, Foster, McRoberts, Hibbert, Hansborough, Jones. . . not necessarily the most imposing of big man lineups.)

The distinction I saw was the duplication of young power forward types and signing someone who would just take away minutes when money was tight. I can see Indiana could want another wing man for instance but not another power forward. I can't see any of the power forwards except Murphy play any center. If Bird likes Hansborough and McRoberts as much as his statements and alreay has Murphy, it make no sense to pick up someone who would take away minutes from your young studs. However if a future trade is in his mind then it does.

However if none of this guys are imposing and are equal, they should want to dump Foster on the waiting Celtics.

You realize that to get Foster or Murphy we would have to trade both Tony AND Scal, and probably throw in a signed BBD, too? Otherwise, it won't work money-wise.

well, tony, scal, giddens, pruitt should work fine, and yes, i'd give up 4 people who shouldn't be playing for a championship team (well, scal in certain situations) for Daniels and Foster.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
The team and fans both love McRoberts, and he's put on a ton of muscle this offseason - I doubt the Pacers would get rid of him, especially when he's so cheap and since he would bring almost no return.  It's possible that they could be angling to sell high on Murphy, but I think the deal was mostly to shore up a weak frontcourt, especially since Jones can fill in that Rasho role as 3rd center behind Hibbert and occasionally Murphy.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I did too, and I was thinking, time to join Pacersblog

or, give up on this season as Indy's winning it

I was over on the Indianapolis Star sight trying to confirm and to check on real estate pricing.
