i agree....i would take bowen on the cheap to be a stopper defensively
I'm not sure how much of a stopper he is defensively anymore. I do however think he could play 5-10 minutes a game and annoy the crap out of whoever is guarding him. Also his defensive insight will be great for Walker and/or Giddens.
I agree. In many ways, he's a perfect fit since you really only want him to play 5-10 mpg anyway. With Marquis Daniels looking to get 25+ mpg, those 5-10 mpg would be about perfect in filling out all the backup minutes behind Allen and Pierce.
As far as a trade, the only thing I wonder is if Danny prefers to make a trade. Sure, Bowen would come on for the vet. minimum if he was waived. But that's still better than a million dollars. By trading 4 million in salary and taking 4 million back on, they don't lose any money.
I sort of agree with this line of thinking. Obviously, Bowen can't be counted on for 25 min/night. But honestly, I'm not sure he can handle 5 minutes a night. It's not a matter of stamina/conditioning, it's really a matter of quickness. At 38, is Bowen going to be quick enough to stay in front of anybody? That's the real question, in my mind. If he can't move those legs fast enough to stay in front of his man, then he's a liability every second he's on the floor. I don't know the answer though, maybe he still has enough quickness.
Certainly, he would be a nice guy to have off the bench that could come in at the end of a game on offense to spread the floor and maybe hit a big three-ball in the corner. Of course, that's why we have Eddie. So nevermind. I think I'm talking myself out of Bowen as I type.
It all comes back to defense, I guess. If he can still keep up defensively, he'd be a nice vet. min. pickup. Otherwise, no.
