  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Yeah but he always comes out ahead in his own comic book where he can't lose, so chances are his villains are significantly less threatening than other super-heroes.  If you even the playing field and put batman up against say superman, I don't see him kicking that much ass.

Well, that's true of every superhero in their own book, but all of them lose there sometimes too.

Ever read "The Dark Knight Returns"?  A 45 year old Batman comes out of retirement and starts cleaning up Gotham City.  By the end, all the thugs in town are worshiping him, and he fights Superman to a draw before faking his own death and escaping.  I'm not worried about him holding his own.

Dr Manhattan says "The world's best superhero poses no more threat to me than does its best termite."

"You've gotta respect a 15-percent 3-point shooter. A guy
like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

and thus begins to the super hero debate
At least in this thread all of our debates are friendly and comical.  Unlike the cutthroat arguments going nowhere in almost every other thread.

What other threads?  ;D
Yup

Yeah but to be fair, The Dark knight Returns is responsible for the lameness that has been Batman comics ever since. The idea that Batman can beat any super hero any time because he has all these "contingency plans" is bull. If Superman wanted to wreck Batman, he could. Thats something Miller got right in TDKR, the idea that Superman wanted to talk to Batman and held back a little. Also, that superman had just been weakned by a nuclear assault. Another good example of this is the fight between the two of them in Batman: Hush. Superman is put under Poison Ivy's spell and forced to fight Batman. Batman holds off Superman for a little while, but aknowledges that he can do so because Superman's will is forcing superman to pull his punches.

Good to see that he knows his priorities.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

It's 2009.  Another man in armored underpants is shouting at me.  It's 2 seconds later.  Another pool of blood and viscera spatters to the ground.  ;)

PS Didn't mean to start a comic book war - I don't read many of them anyway.  I just like Batman and think he's a fine choice, especially in the context of the other picks I hope to make.  Mr. Fantastic (my 2nd choice) might have better abilities, but he's just too much of a wiener for me.

Also, if you chose Batman and failed to specify Bruce Wayne, you currently would have the original Robin Dick Grayson. Cuz Batman dead.

Oh, I think I heard something about that. Comic Bats and movie Bats are different people now, I guess.  So, I hereby officially specify Bruce Wayne.

Nice choice!  Except the only category Chuck Norris belongs in is "Chuck Norris".  You may have some chemistry issues with Lucifer, though, since he's an adamant Christian.

Any thoughts on co-owners for BassThumper and Gomesfan...I don't want to bounce them if they're interested still, but I'd like to fill their rosters.
