I can't believe another MLB Team would actually give up a player for Lugo.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I'm sure the Sox had to pay the balance of his salary minus Duncan's.

interesting pick-up.  He had good production in limited time his first two years, but hasn't looked great since.  Another move today by the sox bringing over a national league player.

The guy they got sucks, except for about 3 months of his entire career.

But the guy they gave up (lugo) really sucks.

we traded crap, and understandably so, got some crap.

Maybe Duncan can help lead the Pawsox to an International League championship.

Edit:
maybe I was a bit unfair.  Duncan is cheap and under team control (arb, etc...) through 2012.  if he starts mashing the ball (I doubt it) you have gotten some sort of value for Lugo.

The fact that he has options remaining is a plus, because he can go right down to the pawsox

Pretty sure this is a depth signing.  My guess is that LaRoche will supplant Kotsay.  In which case the Sox's lose their 5th outfielder.  With the health history of Baldelli and Drew combined w/having Van Every out for the season they needed a OF they could stash in Pawtucket in case of emergency.

that's two bodies in -- none out.  The math doesn't work.

Duncan to Pawtucket?
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

Duncan to Pawtucket?

yes.  he wasnt even on the Cards ML roster, so it is easy enough to just keep him in AAA

We won a WS with Lugo at shortstop. He was good enough for a while. Hope he gets it going again. Thought he was a decent guy.
