Basically, as the title says, if Davis walks, who do you like as FA big man pickup?  Here are some names I saw out there:

Brian Skinner
Rasho Nesterovic
Jamaal Magloire
Shelden Williams
Theo Ratliff
Stro Swift
Juwan Howard
Jake Voskhul
Jarron Collins
Raef LaFrentz
Malik Rose
Robert Swift
Sean Marks
Joe Smith
Drew Gooden

Personally, I'm kind of partial to Brian Skinner.  He's always struck me as a banger, and he put up decent minutes in limited time last year (16 mpg, 4-4-1).  Smith and Gooden would be good pickups simply from a talent perspective.  I also wouldn't hate Rasho or Theo given their size and that they are legit 5s.  Malik Rose also wouldn't be terrible given his experience.

Thoughts?

P.S.  I just got back from my 2 week honeymoon in Italy and I'm very pleased to report that the only American sports jerseys I saw anywhere of any kind in the entire country (that people were wearing) were either Celtic or Red Sox jerseys.  At first I thought I just had selective vision; however, I made it a point the rest of the two weeks to take note, and not once did I see anything but Sox or C's stuff.  Either that country has good taste or only New Englanders visit Italy

I'd want a couple guys.  I still think Swift might be a decent pickup.  If he can stay healthy, I think he could be valuable after some work with Coach Ray.  I would also like them to get someone maybe like Joe Smith.

Joe Smith, Rasho Nesterovic, and Drew Gooden in no particular order. I'm hoping we can get one of those and keep baby actually to have some solid depth.

Actually, I would also be very intrigued by Diogu.  I am a little wary of his injury history, but he could give the team similar production to what Powe gave us, and he even has a little better footwork.

You left Diogu out, who i think would be ideal at the minimum as a 4th, 5th big.

I'd be happy with Diogu or Sheldon Williams. We need a hustler and a banger as our fourth big, and both guys could provide that.

from the list:
theo if cheap, he is still a good defending rebounding true center
howard, great big for end of bench, good passer, can hit j's, not sure if foot speed is still there though
either guy would be for minimal minutes any way
LEON POWE
and actually whats wrong with a young project big like swift or pob type but with EFFORT

Yeah, forgot Wallace too. He wasn't on ESPN's list since I don't think he's officially bought out yet.  Oberto I think is in the same boat.

I'd be interested in Wallace too.  As I've said in other posts, the 4th big here is really only going to play 5-10 mpg with KG, Wallace, and Perk all looking to get a minimum of 30 mpg.  While Wallace isn't who he was a few years ago, I think he could come in and rebound and defend for 5-10 mpg still.

I like Scal as the fourth big. He's got 3pt shooting to let Daniels and Rondo work inside. He plays good D and already knows the system. If one of the top 3 get injured he can step in and start or play 6th man for a week without killing the team. He also provides some roster flexibility at SF spot.

Assuming Scal is indeed the fourth big, then I like Ben Wallace as the fifth big. He won't play much, in fact I could see him racking up DNP-CDs behind the fourth big. But he's good insurance for Perk getting in foul trouble, missing a week with a shoulder, or in case of facing Shaq/Howard in a 7 game series. Alternatively a project like R. Swift would work, if the team is okay using him in an emergency and comfortable with his skills. The nice part about Wallace is you know what you are getting, the nice part about a more project-type is you might get better overall talent and a longer term contribution for approximately the same cost and contribution this year.

It also depends if the team will try and make a run at Powe midseason, and if the team thinks they'll trade Scale, in either case I'd prefer Wallace (or more veterany guy.)

No matter what whoever we bring in needs to be able to stay ready without getting moody about PT. Something not all guys can do.

Those are exactly the four guys I was thinking about when I read the thread title. TP for you. I would also like to have Gooden, but seems like we're not interested.

Ratliff and Swift are two more options, both could make something real good happen in 5-10 backup minutes.
