It doesn't make a lot of sense.  I guess they're clearing room for Rubio and Flynn, but they basically gave Smith and Telfair away for nothing.  All the side pieces are expiring contracts.

Because they have no shooting guard.  They traded both Miller and Foye to Washington, and Brewer is coming off major knee surgery.  They HAD to get a serviceable scorer on the wing!

I don't know.  Smith averaged 10 ppg in less than 20 minutes per game; that's pretty good production.  As for Telfair, he averaged around 10/5.  He's not a great PG, but you'd think his value was above zero.

I can see the dislike for Telfair. But Smith is a rotation player, no? Guy can bang and rebound. Maybe not a starter, but as a backup PF, you could do worse.

is telfair's value so low that you have to give smith away to get rid of the guy despite is moderate contract, and get back a scumbag in return? i'm sure all those young guys will love hearing from q how awesome he is....

Hold up a second. Wasn't Kahn's reasoning for drafting Flynn and Rubio that he felt they could play together?

If so then Telfair would be there in the 3 pg backcourt rotation

Is he now back peddling from that notion?

Kahn seems to be doing a worse job than McHale.

He will regret not getting Curry

I don't see what's so bad about this deal.  They needed a shooter so they got rid of dead weight.  Craig Smith is ok, but nothing special.
