But he already agreed to the LLE.  The are looking at the sign and trade as a way to see if they can get him more money while helping the team out.

If the sign and trade fall through, he just signs for two years.

Does he have to take the LLE for 2 years OR can he take it for 1?

He could and probably would take it for one year. WHy would he agree to $4M/2yr if he can easily get $10/3yr? He just won't take the LLE for more than one year after having a career season.

Outside of this sign and trade, where is he getting that offer?

Why are you guys believing this? This is not happening for a variety of reasons, with the most important that there aren't any minutes left behind Rondo.

Not to mention there must be some reason that the Pacers are looking to dump him after one season.

I still hope the trade falls through and Daniel just signs for the LLE.  To many good things come from there.

1) the trade pieces are still in Boston hands to add a PG

2) ends speculation of Marbury returning for the LLE.

Let me clear that up for you:

1) The biggest need is a backup wing, then a big, and the least need is for a backup PG. So basically in that order you would give out the money, with the backup wing getting the most.

1b) This will only happen if we do the sign-and-trade, because you certainly don't want to acquire a backup PG for Scal's and Tony's salary ($6M) just to play 10 minutes behind Rondo.

2) We not only shed salary/don't take on more, we also get rid of redundant players like Tony and Pruitt.

3) We have the LLE to spend on a 4th (!) big/backup PG.

If you can get Daniels with the lle, why waste the trade chips?  Especially when there are no PGs worth the lle, and a ton of big men worth the min.

Because Daniels can get more than that after his best season statistically? If he would agree to the LLE, when he's worth the double, he will sign for one year, and what's the point of having this debate next year again? Lock him up for 3 years for a total of $10M by doing this sign-and-trade. Listen, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but it has been reported that both teams are interested in the sign-and-trade deal.

Is that "agreement" enforceable though? Or is this one of those Boozer-like wink wink agreements?

I don't think it's the case that Daniels said "I'll sign for the LLE" and Danny said "No, we'll try and work out a deal to up your salary". It was probably more like "You try and work out a sign and trade to get me a certain amount but if you can't I'll sign for the LLE".

Do you guys realize that 1yr/$2M is much more different than 3yr/$10M, both for the player and for us?

TJ Ford will cost us Rondo. I sincerely doubt that Danny wants to go there. Ole Larry would do that deal.

why would an injury prone PG that doesn't really fit the plans of a young team's future cost us rondo?

When did 26 year old PG lose his spot for the future?  When they let their other young PG go to Toronto OR when they cut their third string guy?

Because you don't trade for someone who's getting paid 8.5 million per season to be your backup PG for 15 mins/game.

If Danny does a deal for TJ Ford, I think the next shoe that drops will be Rondo to Sac. for Tyreke Evnas and Nocioni. I can't definitively say that I would be against that deal.

If Ainge still doesn't think he can get a longterm deal done with Rondo, then it may be the best thing for the organization.

PG-TJ Ford/Tyreke Evans
2G-Ray Allen/Eddie House
WF-Paul Pierce/Nocioni/Marquis Daniels
PF-Kevin Garnett/Geln Davis/Nocioni
C -Kendrick Perkins/Rasheed Wallace

Outside of those 11, the bench would be comprised of minimum salary guys because TA,Scal, JR, GAbe, and Walker would be dealt as filler. If any of them are bought out, they could be resigned by the C's.

Still, that is a [dang] good top 11.

Gee, I'll give them Ray Allen if they throw in Danny Granger.

that's my whole point haha, this TJ Ford idea sucks and makes zero sense for us. Rondo's healthy and is the future of this franchise.
