How come gooden isnt being mentioned for backup 4-5?  Doc coached him in Orlando and he is a good rebounder and scorer.  He is also young, 28 for this season.  Would the vet min be enough or would c's have to sign and trade for daniels before signing gooden?  sign daniels for 1.9mil, gooden for vet min. trade scal-TA-pruitt for nocioni, call it an offseason.

PG: rondo-daniels-hudson?
SG: allen-house-giddens/daniels
SF: pierce-nocioni-walker/daniels
PF: garnett-gooden-nocioni
C:  perkins-wallace-gooden

gooden would be the best option if glen davis doesnt come back next season. I am also in favor of c's resigning leon powe while he recovers, it would be the celtic thing to do and Red would be proud of ainge.

I was thinking this too. He'd def bolster depth, but does he want to be the 2nd (at best) big off the bench? With him there isn't a team in the NBA that would match our frontline talent and depth.

Is Gooden a free agent? i didn't realize it.  It'd be a good signing if we cant resign baby. I havn't seen him play in a long time, how was he last year?

You think he'd play with us for the minimum?

i think your underestimating Daniels. As of now he's better than Walker, Giddens, and House.

My thoughts exactly. He's probably the 3rd option and first wing off the bench.

I do like Drew Gooden though since he does rebound very well. He isn't as offensively sound as Joe Smith (in terms of spreading the floor), but if he does play with Rasheed, he does rebound better and it would be a good fit.

agree with everthing but Sheed is the better rebounder, he's just never in position on the offensive boards becuase of his offensive game.

Sheed has never been a good rebounder, especially with his size. It's not a problem, just a statement of his game.

Sheed
R/40: 9.2
Rebound Rate: 13.7

Gooden
R/40: 11.1
Rebound Rate: 15.7

Hence if we get someone to play in the frontcourt with Sheed, I'd prefer a good rebounder. I don't know how good Sheed would be with BBD.

when i put daniels name next to giddens and walker i meant it as it would be daniels INSTEAD of either of those 2, they would be inactive for that nights game, unless c's decide to make daniels the primary backup PG, i just made the chart for viewing sake, however i do think celtics should target nocioni and gooden.  also someone made the point about offensive boards, my point exactly: we would have 2 shooters(house-sheed)2 finishers(daniels-gooden) and a guy who does both plus tenacious D(nocioni) a nice mix off the bench so the offense doesnt become stagnant, plus they would be vets who wouldnt be pressured to come in and 'replace' the offense of the great starting 5. anymore people have thoughts about this plan?

Well, I really doubt we're gonna go after Nocioni now that we have Daniels.

We have Daniels and Walker / Giddens for wing backups.  What you see now is what you get, folks.

Still, I think that's just fine.

As for bigs, I'd like Gooden if for some reason we can't resign BBD, but he probably won't sign for the Vet. Min (he can get at least LLE somewhere else).

Gooden is one player that even the celtics locker room can't keep in check. He is one of the bigger boneheads in the league, and although he is talented, I wouldn't want him on the Celtics.

Gooden is deciding between Milwaukee, Cleveland and Charlotte via his Twitter. And I would rather have Joe Smith.

I really hope he doesn't go to Cleveland.  Their front court doesn't need to be any more stacked.

I don't know. I was upset last year that we didn't get JOe Smith, but he's been pretty terrible. For Cleveland, he barely played in the Orlando series because though he can spread the floor (did well against Atlanta), his defense, especially against nibler guys, has been really suspect. He also doesn't rebound that well.

Gooden and Joe Smith are probably two of the best fall back options if Davis leaves.
