Budweiser you are correct, you can certainly position the roster in a number of ways.  I just feel Eddie is more of a 2 and Pruitt is kind of our only real PG.

I agree with you with Eddie, but that's were Daniels' ball handling skills come in.

The 2007-2008 bench was basically 3 men:  Posey,House and PJ (and he did not come til February).  BBD was a rookie. Powe was in 2nd year and inconsistent.  Pollard was MIA,  Scal was a spare part.  Cassell did not do much either.  .

The 2009-2010 is Sheed, House, Daniels, and BBD if he re-signs.  This bench is 4 men deep right off the bat.  Even without BBD re-signed youre looking at Sheed, House, Daniels.  I take those 3 over Posey, House, and PJ

I dont even think its close.  This team's bench is much better.

I think it's a tough comparison to make, basically because we all know what the championship bench did for us during the season and playoffs, and on the other hand we still don't know what our current bench is going to give us. You can judge just by reading the players names on each bench, but you can also try to factor in their past and (speculated) future contributions.

It's pretty fair to say that Rasheed is the best player on both benches, but Posey was just huge for us all season long and boy was he huge for us during the playoffs with all those daggers and defense. PJ brown made the difference, and people will always remember that jump shot during game 7 against the lebrons (going 4 of 4 from the floor). Then you have Sam I am who also had his moments, during the Texas sweep and during the third game against  Detroit where we got back HCA while Cassel had five points in 8 minutes after not playing in the first two games. On this debate people have not mentioned Powe, and that incredible game 2 of the finals he had. There you have 4 players we will not have back (except something works out with Powe later, which is a longshot). A 5th player is BBD, who we still don't know if he'll be back or not, but who did not contribute as much during the championship season compared to this last playoffs.

At present time, you enter Sheed, Daniels, and the rest are all questions marks, except for House who remains the same player really. Tony is a non factor and seems like he will be dealt on the Daniels deal. Pruitt remains a mistery, same as Giddens, both are not proven. Scal was not on the playoff roster, so he could contribute now, but he does not make game changing plays very often. Scot Pollard played a few games for us, and only during the season so he doesn't count either.

The key we all now, is if BBD is back with us and if Scal is kept, and if there's going to be a backup pg. If BBD comes back, our top 3 bench players this season of Sheed, BBD and Daniels, are arguably better contributors on paper than Posey, PJ and Sam or Posey, PJ and Powe (BBD really didn't do much difference his first season imo).

Playoffs rotations are short, so what matters the most are your main bench players, not the whole 5 bench players (pg, sg, sf, pf, c). In that case, I believe our bench right now is really up to the challenge against our championship bench to say the least. On the other hand, as a whole team, the big three will be two years older, but rondo and perk are a lot better and more experienced, specially rondo's improvement.

All in all, I believe that only by getting BBD back and keeping Scal our team has serious chances of winning it all again, no matter if we loose TA + Pruitt + Walker or Giddens, and get no backup PG.

Rondo   House
Ray     Daniels House
PP      Daniels Scal
KG      BBD Sheed Scal
Perk    Sheed
the team to beat...
a force to reckon with...
just pick your poison.

The regular season isn't important? I'm not really sure but I think you have to make it into the playoffs first, I could be wrong though.

If you think the bench is the difference between playoffs and no playoffs with this team, you haven't been paying attention.

with that said, you said compare the current bench with the championship bench.  Well, the championship bench wasn't the bench at the begining of the season.  It was the one at the end.
Well, unfortunately we don't know what the bench is going to be for us going into they playoffs. We could add any number of players towards the trading deadline and with players getting cut.

The only fair comparison IMO, is to take a look at how they started the season. That being said, i don't feel the need to compare anyway.

there is alot more difficult competition this year, and with each passing year the bench becomes more and more vital to the teams success. Getting the big 3 rest.

I'll agree this year's bench will probably be more talented, but i don't know if you can ever beat the '08 playoffs in my mind.  I just remember having such euphoria, probably more than i actually had, and probably just because it was the first championship run I've ever seen.
I felt so comfortable with PJ and Posey, they never let us down.  House was so perfect when he was hot.  POWE, my favorite guy in the world to watch play.  The few times Tony actually did anything, that was great too.  Then Baby was a rookie so that was sweet.  Cassel was just fun to watch.  My only regret is that Scal didn't play as much as i would've liked.
Until i see Rasheed and Daniels do work for our team, i just don't hold them as high in my head.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Yeah, our start of the season bench isn't what helped us win the championship...not really.

our Regular season bench helped get us home court throughout, which is pretty big when you play 2 HUGE game 7's at home.

Our Bench Will Forever Suck If We Don't Get A a True Scorer, B James Posey Back ;). Lets Face It Posey Is The Missing Piece Still. Leon Will Be Back in February. ;D

The current bench is already better with the addition of Sheed and Daniels. The question is whether or not the big three can get it done two years later (and with KG coming off an injury).

07-08 Championship Team:

*start of the season

C - Scot Pollard
PF - Leon Powe
SF - James Posey
SG - Tony Allen
PG - Eddie House

09-10 Team:

C - Rasheed Wallace
PF - Glen Davis (maybe)
SF - Marquis Daniels
SG - Eddie House
PG - Gabe Pruitt

The starting 5 is the same for the both years so that is a wash.  Our bench so far is clearly better than when we won 66 games and went all the way. However, I do understand PJ Brown joined the team after the all star break, but for majority of the season we had Scot Pollard.  This team now still has the chance to add maybe one or two more proven players.  To quote Barstool Sports "Que the Duck Boats"

in order to do a fair comparison two things need to be done.

1- our bench isnt finalized yet.  you listed daniels and bbd, both are not on the roster yet, so using them for comparison sake is inaccurate, making it a hypothetical rather than a legit debate on actual benches.

2- as wdleehi said, when discussing the championship team's bench, it has to be the final bench.  pj and cassell were important additions, especially pj.
