Someone on the front page said he has already committed to go to Indiana! If we get a pg, I'd rather sign someon like carlos arroyo (actually I wish Marbury would have taken our offer). But I think we would be best served trying to trade for a bigger SF, either Posey or Nocioni.

Can you image a second unit of
House
Daniels
Posey or Nocioni
Baby
Sheed

That would be awesome, in fact against some teams I think we could give the starting five a day off and still come away with the W!

Too diminutive to play along side Eddie, IMO. We need a back up PG with size defensively. That is why Marquis Daniels makes more sense to me.

Daniels is not a PG, by any stretch of the imagination. If Rondo goes down, I want a true PG ready to step in.

Have no problem trading for Daniels to back up at the 2 and 3 positions, though.

There are about 500 posters who disagree with your assessment here in the Marquis Daniels thread, as well as in some of the reports about his position. You may want to reconsider.

My apologies. The only time I've ever seen Daniels play the point is when his team has been desperate due to injuries. If that makes Marquis Daniels a PG, then so is Tony Allen.

BTW, Daniels appeared more minutes at PF last season than at PG (0 minutes).

Hmmm, according to 82games, Tony Allen is better than M. Daniels (Allen has a better PER and better Roland rating).  Just tossing that out there for food for thought.

It is a pipe dream, but it would be the most stacked 2nd unit in the NBA.

Indiana can't sign Watson and then trade him. They can only sign their own free agents (e.g., Daniels) and trade them.

The Pacers are losing Jarret Jack to Toronto, and are still keeping Jamaal Tinsley away from the team. Watson's a good pickup for them, they need someone to back up TJ Ford, who's bound to miss a handful of games next season due to injury.

yeah looks like he's gone to indy. meanwhile the posts on this thread are ridiculous. a guy who averaged 6 assists a game last year in 25 minutes and plays very solid d isn't good enough to replace jokebury or pruitt? anyone have any idea what else is out there on the PG free agent market? lemme tell ya: nada.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Why do we want another point guard who can't shoot? we need someone who can give us a different look at the backup as opposed to someone who duplicates Rondo's weakness.

I think leaving the roster as is (after signing Daniels and resigning BBD) would be a better move over signing Watson. We could leave some spare minutes for Pruitt, JR, and Walker to earn by proving themselves. I don't think we need a 10 man rotation, 9 would be just fine.

I see your point of view, ManUp. I just think getting Watson is better than nothing. God forbid anything happens to Rondo. I just don't think Eddie and Pruitt can get the job done.

it means gabe prolly isn't involved in the S and T seeing they have a PG now...i expect we are keeping gabe as the back up PG...we need to get baby back and try to keep scal

That, then, would be a fatal indictment of 82games. Tony Allen can't carry Daniels' jock.
