With Yao officialy on the shelf until at least the 2010 season, Danny must immediately move to trade for Battier.  Scal, TA and Walker for Battier works (I thrown in Walker because I can't imagine Houston would have any use for Pruitt).

Boston gets a better version of what they were looking for in Grant Hill and would be a resigned BBD and a backup PG from having the best roster in the league without damaging their longterm salary structure.

Houston loses another 7 million in salary in 2010.  If they don't resign McGrady, they'll be about 20+ milion under the cap and capable of bringing in one or two top stars with a returning Yao.

Get it done, Danny!

Mike

How bad you want Battier?

U willing to include Rondo or Perk in the deal?  Don't think the deal gets done without one of those 2 in the deal.  If I am HOuston that what I would hold out for.

Um, please. it makes no sense for a contender to trade for Battier if they have to give up a key piece...

If they want to shed salary, they could find much more palatable ways of doing it (likely without giving up Battier). Battier for Boston's poo platter won't cut it.

Battier is their third highest paid player.  There's no practial way way for them to shed additional salary that doesn't involve trading Battier.

Youre making my point.  Celts fans think Rockets will just give away Battier.  Won't happen.

How is getting cap space, a young high-talent player, and maybe a pick, "giving him away"?

So, they're going to pay him 14 million dollars over the next two seasons for a team that's going nowhere AND hinder their ability to rebuild for what?  Spite?

You're assuming they've given up on the coming season and are looking to dump salary. I don't think the Rockets are thinking that way.

Cap space is only 6 mil which is nice but they are already going to have McGrady's contract coming off the books.  The high young talent player(Giddend or Walker = unproven), and pick late first round pick doesnt hold much value in the NBA as it does say in the NFL.

If I am the Rockets theres no way I accept Iddend or walk along with Scal and TA.  Thats just a pipe dream.

Rockets aren't going to be as bad as you think.  They always overachieve.  They have some nice pieces.  Hell they took LA to 7 games without Yao and Ming and they replaced Artest with Ariza which is an upgrade IMO and they had a good draft.

They still have their MLE to spend if they want to sign a player. Battier is on a good contract for his production on the court, he won't be traded for cap relief.

Do you seriously believe the Rockets think they're going to win a championship next year with no Yao?  Do you think they're going to sign McGrady to a multi-year extension when they have no idea if Yao will ever be healthy again?

That's why you do it.  With just McGrady gone, they're only about 15 mil under the cap with some of their own players to resign, like Scola.  Add in Battier and they're 20+ under the cap, which gives them a lot more wiggle room.

The Rockets will have Bosh next year with McGrady exprinig money.  Without Bosh thats not a bad top 7.  Throw in Ya if he does come back for the 2010-2011 season and thats a threat.

Brooks
Ariza
Bosh
Scola
Battier

Landry
Lowery
Budinger

Battier is alot of value I think for the Rockets to just give away now.  Might be best to revisit this in February

Well, there was word that they offered up Battier and another player for a lotto pick, so I think rebuilding is definately in consideration..

Where the heck are you pulling this out of? I have never even seen Bosh linked to Houston in a rumor, I have seen Chicago, Detroit, even resigning in Toronto, but Houston? Link please? Is this idle speculation on your part in an attempt to make your point?

I am of the belief that the Celtics don't have enough to get Battier, but I certainly don't think the Rockets are going to hold onto him. It makes no sense whatsover.
Looking at my gucci, and it's about that time...
