Outlaw for Pruitt and Tony Allen

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kk5rxy

do it before Aug. and they can waive Pruitt and save on the difference between the outgoing and incoming salaries

might let them bid a few more bucks on any free agents they want to pursue

I think this is a great idea.... beantownboy suggested it a couple weeks back as a way for Portland to add another $1.5M to what they can spend on FAs this year.

There is no way the trailblazers will give up on talent like that to save 1.5 million, would they?  Abviously, that would be a steal for us!

Propose this trade to a Blazers fan and see what happens. Most likely they will laugh in your face. They love this guy out there and i highly doubt they would give him up just for 1.5million.

I, like many of you out there would love to see this happen but unfortuently Kevin Pritchard isn't that dumb.

Portland has their eyes on contending (which they can conceivably do) and Outlaw is their x factor off the bench.

What about the same trade for Steve Blake?

If Portland wanted the cap space that badly, they would have just not picked up Outlaw's option.  As it stands, they have a much more valuable package using Outlaw and their capspace to trade (or sign and trade) for a player making up to $11.7 million.

I think Portland needs more than a little money relief. Outlaw is a pretty good player; he's worth more than a money and scrubs, so I don't see the incentive.

i think both blake and outlaw have partially gauranteed deals. If the need space they could just cut blake. In fact, I'm susprised they didn't in order to increase their offer to millsap.

I would love to see the following:
(1) The trade above, which sends Outlaw to Boston, and an extra $1.5M more to spend on FAs this year to Portland;
(2) Portland turn around and offer a huge deal to Odom that the Lakers don't match.

Why? my three favorite teams would get better in this deal:
(a) Boston gets better
(b) Portland gets better
(c) Whoever is playing the Lakers gets better   ;)

It is a question of who the Blazers might want to sign with their cap space.
They can currently offer $7.7M/yr (I believe).
After the proposed Outlaw trade, they can offer $9.2M/yr.  Odom would jump at a 5 yr deal starting at $9.2M...

Here's the problem.  If Portland just wants cap space, I would bet that a team like Memphis (under the cap) or Miami (trade exception) would jump at the opportunity to take Outlaw for nothing, and then Portland gets even more cap space, and doesn't have to take back any of our garbage.
