It's believed that the Pistons, as of Thursday, have Rasho Nesterovic and Chris Wilcox ahead of Drew Gooden as their next free-agent targets, since it appears that they can't assemble an offer sheet rich enough for Glen Davis to keep the Boston Celtics from matching.

I think it is more and more likely that Boston either re-signs BBD soon. Th eonly team I see as a threat now is Portland, because Utah is going to match their offer on Millsap.

If Portland makes an offer, I think DA matches, then works a sign and trade for a Travis Outlaw.

Here is a link to the entire article.

If we match, we can't do a sign and trade with Portland, I thought.  Wasn't that the case when Orlando matched Dallas offer sheet for Gortat/  I thought you can't then trade the guy for a year to the team that signed the offer sheet.

That's what I have been thinking for quite some time.

A lot of teams interested, never an offer.

methinks baby's agent knows the best option is going to be from boston and has floated a bunch of teams to get danny to blink

Portland's gotta go after Odom...they hurt LA and make themselves better at the same time, it's just a no brainer for them to look into this.

Amen, my thoughts exactly.  Although the only thing keeping them from doing this, however, is to avoid signing another knucklehead like they did to completely ruin their team in the past.

I don't understand when people say "baby will get an offer from the celtics"

Haven't we already given him an offer?  Isn't it called a qualifying offer?

Why would we offer any more if we don't have to?  Wouldn't it be ideal if Baby takes our
qualifying offer?

Baby already has an offer, so I'm surprised he is complaining on Twitter.

Qualifying offer is almost a formality, it's just to make the player into a restricted free agent instead of an unrestricted free agent. The only reason anyone ever accepts a qualifying offer is if they can't negotiate a long term contract or get any other team to sign them to an offer sheet and they want to become a unrestricted free agent the following year. This is what Ben Gordon and Vladimir Radmonovic did, however a qualifying offer is based on some formula which takes into factor the previous years salary so it would be significantly less then the players market value. Big Baby's offer would probably be around a million dollars,  It's very unlikely BBD would accept the qualifying offer unless he wanted to spite the Celtics, because it would be effecting him in a big way, he wouldn't have a long term contract, he would be playing a t a very low contract and he would be taking a risk of injury while also risking his stock going down from this year to next year.

The Celtics won't just sign him to the qualifying...they'll give him a multi year contract at 3-3.5 mil or so because I'm sure they'd like to have him stick around as a young core guy.

Plus, he'll play better if he's being paid what he's worth.

Probably 3 million a year. Scal got that sort of money, Big Baby is worth that much.

Exactly.  Is it just me, or does Baby seem like a lot of other team's second choice.  It's just the impression I get from the silence.

Yeah but everyone agrees Scals contract wasn't justifiable worth

I also saw on ESPN news bottom line that Davis is apparently going to skip training camp, or in football terms hold out, due to contract disputes and the fact that i guess the celtics either aren't making progress in time to sign him, or their offers are much lower than BBD is looking for.

But he was projected to be a bench player of somewhat limited utility, very similar in stats and worth to BBD. The good playoff run even matches.

If baby doesn't get any offers, would he really reject our qualifying offer...  and what happens if he does?  Europe?
