a couple of my friends work at healthpoint and have some good stories I can't tell =)

one I can was that KG really enjoys ice cream after working out...

Myself, I've met Jo Jo White a few times, once at an event, once I sat next to him at a game - classy classy guy - one of the good ones

I met Posey and Perkins after a practice I got to attend. Both were pretty quiet guys...

ML Carr spoke at a cubscouts event when I was about 7... I barely remember that

hmm.. oh we stayed at the same hotel as the c's and ran into Mike Gorman and Big Baby in New Orleans, both were nice enough

I think that's all I have, oh Kedrick Brown and Marcus Banks were at Hooters; I went by and said hello, both were nice

My brother and I were walking through a casino in Las Vegas in the mid-90's and we stumbled upon a sports memorabilia convention and who is sitting there signing autographs?  Bill Russell.

I am rarely impressed by celebrity, but he had me a little giddy.

  • Thank you Eddie!
One time during golf practice with my high school team, Ray Allen was practicing next to me.  I didn't notice him until practice was over and we were driving away.

When i was little, Bill Russel came to the opening of 2 courts at a park near my house that were named after him for some reason or another.  The only thing i remember is my dad remarking on how far the poor old guy had to bend over so he could read off the podium.  Not anything big, but probably something I'll always remember.
A couple months ago i was telling my friend about it.  He said, "Why didn't he just sit down on the court while he was reading from it?"

Ok, in the past four years I've had many experiences in meeting different celtics.(I'm in my teens so I haven't had as much time as the rest of you)

Back in the 06 -07 season I found out about the gate where the players came out after games, which caused me to be extremely autograph hungry and even away from the gate i would search for celtics and former celtics, so here are my different experiences.

Rondo: after a game last season against the t-wolves, rondo drove out of the lot and i was surprised that I was the only one going towards his car. So i guess he saw me coming so he rolled down his window and reached for my program, and just as i'm putting it in his hands he says 'Psych." and rolls his window up. So i put my program in his window and he shut the window and didnt notice that a part of my program was stuck in his window, so he drove off. my and my friend were cracking up, i guess rondo can be ****.

Doc: I got doc's autograph three times and every time he'd say some funny comment. great guy.

Ryan Gomes: Nicest guy ever, always signed an autograph. After a game one time he was walking down a public stairway, everyone flooding him, he was signing as many things as he could, even stopping at the bottom to finish a few.

The Chief: My and a friend of mine always would sneak into the premium seating, to see the little hall of fame they got there. This one time we were walking and we saw this really tall guy in a suit walking toward us, and i was like hey... that guys really tall... too tall not to be a ball play.... HOLY S@%# THAT'S ROBERT PARISH!! So he looks over after i yelled that, and he walked very fast into an elevator, so we followed him in there and I shook his hand, trying to act calm, when both of us were giddy with joy. he signed my little ball and my friends suvineer cup (lol) and my friend said the first thing that came to his head, "I love you." and RP started cracking up and he said 'I love you back." So we both got out of the elevator and went our seperate ways.

Oh and one time during a game vs. ATL the luckiest thing ever happened to me and me friend, we were walking around loooking for empty seas on the floor and this guy and his i think girlfriend pull us over and gave us post-game passes for after the game, he said they couldn't make it. He said that we would meet the team and i was crapping my pants basically. So we went to section 2 after the game and we found out that this was some sort of meeting for the family/friends of the players from.. the hawks. still cool though. i got every single players autograph including joe johnson, smith, childress, and royal ivey (who i accidentally kept calling joe johnson ****)
then i saw gomes and telfair over in the path leading toward the locker room so we went over there, telfair ran, and gomes signed stuff for us and we asked why sebastian ran away and gomes said "oh, he had to take a dump." That was one of the funniest things i've ever heard!

I still have more, but i've wrote enough.

The day I saw Ray Allen in Stop and Stop was the 4th of July, but I definitely didn't know he was goignto be in the parade, so needless to say I'm kicking myself

I'm heading down there in a couple of weeks, hopefully I will bump into anyone from the organization

MV is a great place for anyone who hasn't been...One of the few places remaining that hasn't been tainted by large corporations, fast food joints, etc...It's a great place

I love marthas vineyard, i'm going in mid august, but sadly i've never met a celtic there. Anyone have any info on where they hang out or something? lol

I've met Darren Daye,Doc Rivers,Danny Ainge,Rick Fox(rookie year),---Had a conversation with ML Carr when he was Head Coach/GM--I said to him:Dana Barros is gonna be a free agent soon---He smiled and nodded his head--and eventually signed him...I also High Fived Brian Shaw after a victory in LA---and he promptly Bolted to Europe to play with Danny Ferry---my friend blamed me for that fiasco!---Cause, if the C's knew he was gonna do that, they would have drafted Tim Hardaway INSTEAD of Michael Smith.

A few of my stories.

Back when I was really little, we were at a Mall in Illinois.  KG had just been drafted that summer by the Wolves and was with his family.  I remember my dad went and bought a Twolves hat and told me to get it signed.  I'm like 4 years old here and I'm being asked to walk up to this giant! I was so nervous.  So I go up and say, "Mr. Garnett can I have your autograph please?"  He looked down at me all intense like he was going to kill me.  I thought for sure I was going to die, but then he cracked a light smile and signed the hat and continued shopping with his family/friends. Funny thing is I can't recall him saying a single word to me.  I also remember reading in a magazine several years after the fact that he rarely signs autographs.

Another time I was at a game in Milwaukee, since I live in Wisconsin, and I had a Paul Pierce jersey on.  The C's had just one and I was above the entrance  heading to the locker rooms.  I yelled hey Paul, and held my jersey up. He pointed at me, took his head band off and threw it up, which was cool of him to do in an away arena, even if I did have a Celtics jersey on.

I've actually talked to Mike Gorman before a game for about 5-10 minutes back when the Celtics were "rebuilding" a few years ago, and have gotten a decent amount of signatures of various Celtic players from when I was younger.

I met and talked with Tommy for a few mins twice.  Once when I was 15 and working at a gas station in Manchester-by-the-Sea and another time 4 years ago in Chicago when I was there for a C's - Bulls game.  He was cool - he actually had some good things to say about my hometown, Gloucester.  He used to (maybe he still does) own a house there.

In 2008, during the playoffs, I ran into JoJo at a gas station in Danvers.  Funny thing is that there are 2 gas stations across the street from each other (junction of Rte 1 and 95) - I went to the first one, go to pump my gas and the guy comes over the speaker and says they are out of gas...?  So...I went across the street and who do I pull up next to but JoJo White.  Of course I had a C's shirt on (as usual) and an C's emblem on my Jeep.  Immediately he started talking to me and said he likes their chances, but there's still a long way to go.  I told him if anyone knows about that its him.  He told me to look for him at the Garden and I actually did walk right by him at one of the games, but he was speaking with someone else and I didn't want to interrupt.

I have lived in Springfield Missouri my whole life so I dont really have a "chance" encounter story. I did however meet Kevin McHale at Bass Pro Shops. They are founded and headquartered here and McHale came to sign autographs. I took my C's sweatshirt and asked him if he could make the autograph out to "the only 5 foot 11 inch guy who ever blocked my shot". He didnt really say anything when I asked him and just put his head down and started writing. When he was through, my sweatshirt read "Good Luck, Kevin McHale".

Back when the Celtics did their season ticket holder BBQs I met Tommy Heinsohn and Bob Cousy.  They were sitting at a table in the practice gym signing autographs.  There was a father and his little kid in front of me waiting their turn.

When the kid got up to the table Tommy starting joking around with the kid asking him if he ate his hotdog from the BBQ.  He kept going, "I think this kid took my hotdog!"

He then turned to Cousy and said "Cous, Cous, this kid took my hotdog!"

Cousy looked back at him and said "Tommy, he didn't eat your hotdog."

It was the funniest exchange between two Celtics that I have ever seen, because Tommy was yelling like he was calling a game and Cousy was acting like he wanted Tommy to keep it down.

Funny stuff.
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."
