He's also somewhat of a project, which I wouldn't want after the Patrick O Bryant fiasco.

Also, Sheed plays better as a center (at least defensively) than a PF. I would prefer a PF whose a banger and good at offensive rebounds.

Diogu is a poor man's Leon Powe.  An undersized inside player without Powe's intensity or nose for the ball.

Isn't that what made Powe Good though? That's almost saying he's Powe minus what's good about him.

That being said he has improved every year. I wouldn't be too upset if the celts took a chance on him, but he is still a project, and I'd rather a veteran at this point.

Is he restricted?

I'll probably get shot for this comment, but from watching Diogu in his incredibly limited career, I almost feel that he is a better scorer then Leon.  That being said, if Leon were healthy I would rather he were here (but he isnt...)

I actually kind of agree. It's weird because Ike's first year he had so much potential, but somehow got in a bad system where his minutes continually dropped.

He's got better moves in the post as a pure scorer, but Powe is better overall when healthy, IMO

I'd rather keep BBD and sign Joey Graham, who can back up Paul.

No, Joey Graham is a 4 in a 3s body.  His brother Stephen is better suited if you like the Grahams.  They're twins, but Stephen is thinner and more fleet of foot.

I think Diogu would be a nice fit if we bring in moon and don't have the money for baby.

s&t
moon and james jones for TA&Scali

sign Ike, bring in powe once he's healthy.

Rondo/House/Pruitt
Allen/Jones/Giddens
Pierce/Moon/Walker
Garnett/Powe/Diogu
Perkins/Wallace/Swift

One of the reasons Miami wants to let go of Moon is because James Jones is coming off the bench for them

I'm bumping this one - here's a LLE possibility

and look at his full name: "Ikechukwu Somtochukwu Diogu"

I think he'd be a nice 4th or 5th big off the bench, he put up ridiculous numbers in meaningless games at seasons end (32 and 11, 28 and 13)

if available for the LLE and if Baby walks, he'd be a nice fit imo

Me too.  In fact, I wouldn't mind him in addition to Baby, the more I think about it.

Right now, I think this team's biggest weakness overall may be a lack of low post scoring.  This is where they will really be missing Powe.  However, Diogu is actually an even better low post scorer than Powe is (OK, arguably).  I have a feeling KG and Sheed will both be straying pretty far from the basket for much of the season, and Perk is still a work in progress, so having a guy like Ike would be huge.

I think your right.  Diogu is a better back to the basket offensive threat where a healthy Powe (who I don't think we see this season) is the better rebounder/energy guy.

Good call Chris. I agree. I want him IN ADDITION to BBD. He has an enforcers body and has a back to the basket game. I think he would be a nice addition at the LLE or vet min.

As with the argument for signing another wing...  why's Diogu going to sign here if he thinks we're going to re-sign BBD as well?  He's a young guy who you'd think is looking for the opportunity to prove himself, it he's only making the vet minumum or LLE anyway, he's much better off going to a young, rebuilding club where he's got the chance to either compete for a starting spot or at least be the first big off the bench.  Why would he come to Boston to fight for maybe 5/10 minutes a night, and likely 0 minutes a night if BBD returns?

If he comes to Boston, they re-sign BBD, and he doesn't get off the bench, he's done in the League.

You go after Diogu (and he wants to come here) if you've given up on re-signing BBD.

Besides, that 5th-big role is going to go to Swift, we all know how inevitable that is.
