There are rumors that Cleveland may be looking to move D West's salary. I know that it would be tough to make a trade with the rival Cavs, but I think that it's worth a shot.

This is from Marc Stein:

Quote
I've been advised by one especially knowledgeable observer not to be surprised if Delonte West is traded at some point this season, not because Cleveland is eager to part with him but because West is surely more movable from that massive Cavs payroll than Daniel Gibson.

And this is his "season outlook" on ESPN

Quote
With Mo Williams now at the point, West may be on his way out of town. If he sticks in Cleveland, he’s likely to start at the 2-guard where he’ll split time with Daniel Gibson and Wally Szczerbiak. Either way, West’s value takes a big hit with Mo in town.

IMO, trading Scal (and his expiring contract) along with Bill Walker could be enough to bring West back East. The Cavs want to clear space for Gibson, and they have already signed Carter. West's role next year on the Cavs will be very limited and they want to move his contract to get ready for 2010.

West would be the perfect player to back up Rondo and play a few minutes at the 2 as well. He has the heart, determination, and the red hair that makes him a perfect Celtic.

Would love to see him back in Celtics green, but I don't see the attraction for Cleveland to move him to Boston.

Marc Stein is full of baloney.  The only guy who gave LeBron some support in the playoffs was Delonte.  If they're smart, they'll move Mo Williams instead.  Williams makes twice as much money and is strictly a one dimensional player who disappeared in the playoffs after making all kinds of predictions that didn't come true.

I'd love to see DWest back in Boston, but it isn't happening.

They'd move him if they could secure the cap space to sign two max free agents. If the salary cap decreases as projected that is likely to be impossible, so they won't move him just to clear salary then.

No chance they would move him to boston to help solidify our bench. Get reals now.

Really wish it was TA that got dealt over Delonte.. Still love that kid. Him and Gomes with this team would be amazing. Cleveland isn't gonna give him back, though.

Maybe they can trade West before the season to a team that ends up falling out of contention and then trades West to the Celtics for expiring contracts.

It's good to dream.

You make the assumption that you can move whoever you want, whenever you want. The smartest move is to move Gibson. However, he doesn't have a good contract and doesn't currently have high value. Neither does Mo at this point, since his contract lasts until the 2014-2015 season. Not many teams willing to take that deal. West's on the other hand ends in the 2010-2011 season...something mroe appealing to GM's.

I love Delonte in the same way that I love Powe.  Both are passionate, driven, talented, make the best of their strengths, and good guys.  Plus Delonte is incredibly entertaining of the court as well.  I´d love to get Delonte back on the C´s.

That being said, I can´t imagine the Cavs will be looking to help us out unless we give up something we don´t want to get him back.  I have an underlying hope that he will return to the Green one day (although i have that same hope about Gomes, Big Al, as well.  I guess I´m just partial to a those young guys who were part of getting us to where we are now.)

lol did anyone notice that the "season outlook" on his profile was probably written before last season started?

anyways, the rumour is stating that IF they make a trade, it will most likely be Delonte West instead of Daniel Gibson, but it doesn't say they were looking to move him.

Bring back DWest?

I've read speculation that the Cavs might be looking to move Delonte for expiring deals to get further under the cap next offseason or to lessen the luxury tax hit if they keep Shaq and Big Z.  What about trading Eddie and TA for DWest and salary filler?  Eddie is the better shooter but Delonte is clearly the best player in the deal and would back up both Ray and Rondo.

Given that the Cavs have committed a ridiculous amount of money to Boobie Gibson, I don't think it's that bad a deal for them.  For the Cs, Delonte has two more years on his deal so resigning him might complicate Ainge's plans to rebuild after the Big 3 are done.

To the same extent Cleveland wouldn't want to deal Delonte to us, I wouldn't want to see Eddie come in and kill us off the bench.
Go Celtics.

The day Delonte was no longer a Celtic was a great day for me personally, for him to come back now would be devastating to me! The C's have their undersized lights out SG, they do not need another undersized SG who is not as good of a shooter. I know he plays D, blah, blah, blah, let him "hustle" for another team, I find watching him play extremely unenjoyable. Thats great that he'll block a 7 footer once in a while & all that good stuff, at the end of the day hes too short, can't really do much about that except get as good as Eddie at shooting. PLEASE NO D-WEST IN GREEN EVER AGAIN!!
