Is Pruitt a Good Enough Back Up PG?

LOL, I remeber when Pruitt was drafted and all of the Delonte West haters (remember them?) gushed about how much better he was going to be than Delonte.

Once Pruitt got meaningful minutes last season, he wilted. I think he blew his chance last season. He is skilled, but lacks the drive, the killer instinct, to be a meaningful player in the NBA. Pass.

Pruitt is probably still not ready for the big show.  I'm beginning to think, and maybe this is a dangerous strategy, that we should wait some of this stuff out and see what's available at the deadline.  We have some expiring contracts, teams will know better where they stand (if they have a shot at the playoffs, a shot a good draft pick, or a desire to shed salary.)  But, whether we want it or not, Pruitt may be our back-up point for the beginning of the season.

yeesh -- how is Anthony 'don't call me Derrick Martin' Carter going to play in the backcourt with House? Think the afore-mentioned Rose and Alston are gonna struggle with that duo?

i'd prefer Royal Ivey, but neither is a very good option. i'm all for Bogans at the min tho.

The problem with that is Pruitt loses a lot of his value once the season starts because his contract isn't guaranteed. Any trade we made would probably be at least a 2 for 1 if not a 4 for 1. This is good if there are any good players bought out near the deadline.
I guess a trade for Nocionni in which the C's give up Pruitt, TA, and Scals is a good move. Especially because Scals could be bought out then brought back and we could sign a vet point guard or off guard.

i'm sure both guys are dying to make the min. but seriously: carter = 5'10', house = 5'11". they cannot man the 2nd unit together. your PG has to be able to man up 2s, whether via height or stregnth (like the mixed results of Mabury). Pruitt is 6'4". Ivey is 6'4"... etc.

The short and simple answer is no. He's not good enough. The long answer, which is a complicated one, is that Pruitt can shoot, pass, distribute, and defend, but he's never been given the chance to. The question has been asked, and it's up to you to believe the answer you would like.

Ivey played well last year in Phili, and turned down his option with them to seek out a better deal.

In any case this floats my arguement that the LLE shoud be spent on the best available wing player, not the best available PG if the pickins are Ivey, Carter, Lue.
