Gerald is a pretty efficient offensive player. He scores pretty easily.

The numbers don't bear this out - he posts a 51.3 percent true shooting mark for his career.  That said, I'll grant that relatively speaking, this is low on the list of reasons why I want no part of this guy back in green.

GG may be pretty athletic but he is also pretty weak.  He has a very slight frame and gets pushed around very easily.  That is where TA, Giddens, and Walker who have similar athletic ability differ.  Filling out a little more and improving his strength would help I think.

I also think GG's handle is worse than TA which is saying something.

Im on the bring Gerald Green back kick. Honestly, I think he is the best we can get with our bucks talent & age wise. Plus the guy is only 23 & can play. He gave us a couple of 30 plus pts. games & about 10 in a row 18-10 pt. games not even knowing how to play a NBA game & thats hard to do. And he did it at a tender age of 20 or 21 & that is impressive in my eyes. Sometimes I think some of you Celtic fans only love a guy when he is wearing Celtic Green, the minute a guy leaves (excluding Posey & Gomes)people on this blog seem to go hatred against former guys. Gerald was a nice young talent who netted us K.G. & title #17. Gerald loved his days as a Celtic & I respect him for it & he was improving until we killed his drive temporarily with the trade. Hopefully he comes back & lives up to that potential I know lives in him.

what do you suppose killed his momentum at the other 3 places he stopped at, one of which he went from major minutes and full support of the team to DNP in under a month and a half?

Celtics fan's hate from three teams ago or the fact that he is an athletic kid with limited basketball IQ and an inablity to pick up defensive skills?

GG is not a good basketball player. it's really that simple. To counter your point, i sometimes think that Celtics fans are over the moon in their evaluations of players from the "we may suck, but we have talent!!!!" era. As much as we were sold we had 10 potential all star players on that roster, we really had about 4 talented kids, 6 scrubs, and paul pierce.

GG was firmly in the scrub camp, and there's a reason no team wants to make any sort of commitment to him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gerald back in green... at the vet minimum.

Give him a partially guaranteed contract and see how he fares against Bill Walker and JR Giddens in training camp. A very low risk Darius Miles type of situation from last year for the C's.

I say go for it.

Here is my case.

1.He is 23 years old.
2. Incredibly Athletic.
3. Has 4 years in the league.
4.  Kevin Garnett will bring out the defense in him.
5. We can get him for short money.
6. He is more mature now (if not the team will make him mature) and we can re-develop him.
7. He only needs to play 10-15 minutes a game to back up PP.

You have to admit, when he was first playing we all were a little hopeful about him and a little intrigued  about his potential.
At the time, we didn't need another young immature player so it was good to get rid of him.
Now we have a talented veteran team that can teach him how to be a pro.
I think there is a huge upside with little risk to bring him back.
What do you think?
I have to admit, when he was first playing I was really hopeful about him.  I'd much rather have him than Walker/Giddens/Pruitt, but i wouldn't pick him over anyone else to back-up Paul.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think we're running out of things to talk about. ;D

Gerald is a pretty efficient offensive player. He scores pretty easily.  Where he fails in defensively, and turnovers.  I would be intrigued to sign him again, if we can't get another FA 3, and seeing how he competes against Walker and Giddens for PT.  I doubt Doc would want him back, however.

He also can't create his own shot.

Does anyone understand the outrage that would ripple through boston's stratosphere if we brought Gerald back and let Leon walk?

Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!
Jut wondering would people rather have him at the vet min or Giddens? How about Hudson or Gerald? Pruitt or Gerald? Walker or Gerald? I'd like to get people's opinions, the only player I'd take over Gerald would be Walker, Giddens has shown less in the league and he's older, if you say you have to give Giddens some time to develop you ha ve to give the same leeway to the young player Green.
I would most certainly rather have a rehabbing Leon than any of the others.

in response to your question on who i would choose, and in order...

hudson
pruitt
walker
giddens
powe

heck, i'd rather have antoine back than green. at least antoine gives a [dang] and could motivate other players a little.

So Gerald's finally graduated from College...I wonder where he would have gone in this year's draft?

Remember when he was G$ around here...Hah!

If ever a kid should have gone to college, it was he...and, if he didn't flunk out, he might just have garnered the wherewithal to become a professional.  I'm not at all sure he's done that in his four rather brutal years in the league.

I'll just let the powers that be decide who will be the back up at 3, although just thinking of G$ has me smilin'... ;D

These threads are like leukemia: They go into remission for awhile, and then someone decides to ignore the mountain of evidence out there that Gerald isn't smart enough to play in the league, and it comes back again. Killed his drive with the trade?  ;D

Time for another shot of Gerald Green chemo.

I have less than no interest in this guy and his brain-dead style of basketball ever again darkening a Celtic uniform. In a perfect world, Gerald and Tony Allen would just go away, so we could end this ill-fated constant fascination with two players who simply aren't capable above the neck of playing winning NBA basketball.
