Gerald Green may be the only player ever drafted in the NBA to possess these skills;

1. Amazing athletic ability
2. Quick speed
3. Good length and size
4. Decent 3 ball and mid-range game
5. Possesses good physical tools for defense

...and YET still be bad at actually playing basketball.

It's like having a million bucks in cash and spending it on Enron stock.

Gerald has some physical gifts, no doubt. But championship teams don't need to take longshot flyers just because we drafted the guy.

He's played for 4 teams in 4 years, and nobody wanted to keep him. He's an atrocious defender known for his lack of work ethic and has no discernable skill other than scoring. Unfortunately he has no handle and possibly the worst shot selection in the league.

Sorry, if would be a great story if he pulled it all together, but I wouldn't give up a single guy on our roster for him. He's been terrible his entire career and shown no sign of changing.

Look how long it took for Jermaine ONeal and Chauncy Billips to get it going.  You can't write off talent.

I....just wanna fly.....no I can-not play no de-fense and I can-not create my own shot...but I-yyyyyyyyyy Just wanna fly (whatcha want gotta tell em whatcha want)...no I can-not learn new team schemes no I can-not maturely handle sporadic playing time.....

Sugar Ray sang that. Word for word. Its about Gerald Green.

You can't write off talent but you can't hope that a chicken learns to fly either

Chauncey was significantly better as a rookie than Gerald has shown in 4 years, and O'Neil was widely accepted as a breakout talent trapped behind Rasheed / Sabonis in Portland. That, and they weren't lazy off the court and clueless on it...

Ouch and TP.

Worst part is Gerald can't blame it on getting a terrible nickname.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
1.He is 23 years old.

And have an 11 year od brain..hey even newer

2. Incredibly Athletic.

but couldnt win second slam dunk contest.

3. Has 4 years in the league.

And almost no playing out of garbage time experience

4.  Kevin Garnett will bring out the defense in him.

just like zero.

5. We can get him for short money.

for the NBDL team? wait he dont qualify for that one anymore

6. He is more mature now (if not the team will make him mature) and we can re-develop him.

Last time I check him playing he was doing the same face he did in boston while missing a basket. remember that? i am sure u al, and just thinking about this makes me soooo mad i want to kill someone...

7. He only needs to play 10-15 minutes a game to back up PP.

he can play 12 in 4th quarter garbage time and make us lose the game doing it.

Tell us how you really feel!  LOL

ok
he stinks.

Everyone always talks about how athletic Gerald is. Sure, he can jump high. But, outside of that, I don't find the guy all that athletic. He must be the worst player in the NBA when it comes to fluidity and coordination. He can't even dribble and run at the same time, yet this is the guy with "Jordan athleticism"?

He runs really fast. Jumps really high.

He just can't translate that into being a good basketball player

Gerald's got two key things wrong with him that would keep me from ever wanting him on this team:

1. He's not smart/wise.
2. He doesn't work hard.

The latter point came from Paul.  The former is just my observation.  I don't think anyone was higher on Gerald when we drafted him.  Having connections with OSU I was familiar with the recruiting of him to play there.  But the kid just doesn't have it.

I'll always take the player with less talent but works hard and is smart.  As Magic Johnson used to say, there was only one guy he could out-jump in the NBA, Larry Bird.

Gerald is a pretty efficient offensive player. He scores pretty easily.  Where he fails in defensively, and turnovers.  I would be intrigued to sign him again, if we can't get another FA 3, and seeing how he competes against Walker and Giddens for PT.  I doubt Doc would want him back, however.

How can Gerald Green be "an efficient offensive player" if one of his failures is turnovers?

Actually, where he fails is basketball IQ. He never knows where he should be, whether it is in offense or defense. Sure he can score, but it's never part of the play or within the offense.

He also can't create his own shot.

Does anyone understand the outrage that would ripple through boston's stratosphere if we brought Gerald back and let Leon walk?
