I think this is just pure speculation of what could happen.

He could be a lock down defender and he shoots the 3 well, he just needs to refine his game and stick to a role. His game can be ugly, but Doc'd fix it. Do it up!

I actually misread the title as "shoot the moon, danny" and was expecting a photoshopped picture of him playing hearts. As far as jamario moon goes, if he accepts his role, I would love him here.

Definitely need a 6-8 SF to round things out. Even if Moon is not an option Jones is a better 3 pt shooter; but not as athletic. Did Miami trade D. Wright? If so they may be light at this position. If they still have Dorrell Wright, Moon, Diawara(?) and Jones they may let one go.

I don't like Moon for us, I'd rather give Giddens/Walker the chance and default to Tony if necessary. Go find a better target to trade for or simply go find a SF who can shoot as an addition to our squad.

After the front page article(via twitter), I am excited at the possibility of going after Moon.

I realize he is young and ideally out of our price range. But imagine if we had some of the big three, not go and visit him, but maybe talk to him on the phone. That could probably do a lot to persuade a young guy like him. Offer him the Bi-Annual. I think he has a lot of potential.

But really I just like his last name.

He was also a Harlem Globetrotter. Very cool.

As a fan of the Toronto Raptors and as a guy who lives in Toronto and got to see Jamario Moon play a lot, all I can say is that this guy needs work.

Firstly, he's not young at all. He was born in 1980 and just turned 29 last month.

Secondly, this guy is EXPLOSIVE! I mean freakishly explosive. I'm talking Vince Carter circa the 2000 dunk contest explosive. Seriously.

The problem with Jamario Moon is that, like all members of the Toronto Raptors, he fell in love with his jump shot. He even fell in love with his 3-point shot despite shooting an atrocious % from both the field and beyond the arc.

My thesis statement here is that Jamario Moon is really 2 basketball players, and unless we get the explosive one who basically says "I'm going to dunk the ball or you're going to foul me" then I'm not interested in him.

He needs to know that he really should never be shooting the ball at all, and certainly not shooting 3's.

Also, he was a ghost in Miami.

Thoughts?

i gotta disagree on that one...moon is proven and would allow PP to get rest....giddens/walker/tony add zero at the SF spot...we would be in the same situation as last year....

Doc is the one that can prevent that. Allow PP to get some rest, that's easily accomplished.

We'll he better start trusting people. I'm all for getting an improvement in the position, I don't think Moon is the answer. We need tougher people in the position. I'd rather keep the assets we would need to get him to use them on someone else, and take our chances with our current roster in the meantime (if nothing else is available).

it doesn't have to be moon...i would take him but i want to see danny get someone that improves that wing...giddens and walker will be the same as last year

Sadly not too much. AT the SF position all 3 are undersized, aren't consistent shooters, and have trouble on defense.

Moon and Carney are thoroughbreds: 6-7, 6-8 guys with speed and can play - potential Trevor Ariza type players.

My thoughts in that case are the problem is we already have two explosive guys who happen to be younger - Giddens and Walker.  What we need from Moon is lower turnover rate and foul rates (big problems with Giddens and Walker), as well as solid perimeter defense.

If he can give us explosiveness with those characteristics as well, then great.  If not, we should look elsewhere.

I'd rather have Rodney Carney.
