Great article. Just wanted people to see it since there's never anything to read during the weekends. I do like his idea though, that Portland shouldn't pursue Milsap and should try for Odom instead. If they do, it in my opinion at least drops the Lakers back down to tied in terms of talent with the Spurs. That would be great for us and would also mean at least one of Rudy or Travis would be on the market.

I wonder if Odom's agent had something to do with that article, it basically kept saying, someone give Lamar a contract, preferably Portland...hmm

I actually thought so too. I like Woj as a reporter (he has a knack of beating out ESPN guys) but as a columnist he tends to be biased enough to make you think he's got ulterior motives.

I do agree with him somewhat though. Since they wanted an SF for rebounding and defense, I initially thought Odom would have been a better fit for Portland than Hedo.

Odom deserves a big contract, at least 12 million per.

I don't see why people think he's biased for Odom....he's right.  Odom is the most talented swing forward in this free agent class, and he was before anybody was signed.

For some reason, nobody except the Lakers are even trying for him.  Lamar Odom should have been the Blazer's plan B as soon as Hedo chose not to sign with them.

I actually kinda think if the Milsap deal goes through another shoe will drop and Aldridge will be heading somewhere else, not sure where though...

Not likely...they're working on extending both Aldridge and Roy.

If Portland did get Millsap ... I think the Blazers would move Przybilla or Aldridge in 6-12 months time. Not right away, but after Millsap convinces the Blazers that they need to find 30 minutes a night for him.

I would take Millsap over Odom too.  Millsap is younger, has no injury history and works harder on the court.  If Utah matches, then Pritchard can turn to Odom.

And the biggest losers this offseason have been the Orlando Magic, because Carter isn't nearly the player that Turkoglu is. Carter is flash, Hedo is cash.

I think Varter is much better than Hedo, though he might not fit the system (Orlando likes the point forward system with Jameer getting his own shot). However, they lost Cliff Lee, and might lose Gortat too. Think they might just ahve given up too much.

To be honest I think the loser is Cleveland. I personally don't think it would pan out, and it seems like most of the upgraded teams have just done better than them so far.

Cleveland has done fine.  Shaq is still a load down low and Anthony Parker was a nice pickup.  Plus they resigned Varejao, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also resigned Joe Smith.

Surprised he had Dumars on his list of winners for free agency.

Me too.  Neither Gordon nor Villanueva plays a lick of defense.

Scoring is always overrated, still I don't think either contract will end up being a albatross type deal. Time will tell, Dumars needs to land an elite player asap though.

I just don't understand the Gordon signing after just extending Hamilton. How that's a winning move, I'll never know. Rip might not be as prolific at scoring on some nights as Gordon but he will hold his man to consistently 5-7 PPG less than Gordon will.
