I hate Tony Allen.  He's got one of the worst jump shots in the entire NBA, and makes a ton of dumb mistakes on both ends of the floor.

Hate is a strong word Roy.  Couldn't you just say you "strongly dislike and never want to see again?"

Everyone is talking about how we need to get rid of him.  Personally, i think he's a very decent player.  He certainly hasn't played to his potential for the better part of these past 2-3 years.  However, I have faith that he can fit in with this team quite well.  Unless of course we actually look into decent trades, then i wouldn't be against unloading his contract.

I happen to agree with you man.  There arent too many supporters left, but seriously, when this guy is actually healthy and gets more than 3 minutes a game, he can be effective.  Its impossible to play well when you get juggled all around from being the 6th man, to then not playing for a week, then coming in with 20 secs left to handle another teams best defender.

Although he got crap for his D against Ben Gordon, the facts are Gordon stepped out of bounds on that play so it shouldnt have been a foul, and also people tend to forget he was absolutely destroying Ray.  After TA got in, he did a fairly decent job.

He still forced the issue on an entirely stagnant 2nd unit, which desperately needed some slashing.  His jumper has gone from bad to atrocious and im not sure it will ever recover.  But who knows, if he finds it a little bit, watch out.  We might find 2006 Tony again.

Yes, it's very important to be politically correct about your hatred of Tony's guts.   ;)

I am certainly hoping for him to succeed, if he ever could approach how he played for those two weeks before he blew out his knee, then we can easily restrict Pierce and Allen's minutes.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Danny said it correctly when he said many times that Tony plays best when starting.  He does not do very well off the bench.  The best place for him would be on a team where he can play 30+ minutes a game.

The way he is used here, just doesn't work.

In addition to that, he's been a good teammate; he works hard; and does a lot of volunteer work.

Him and Mikki Moore can go suck their thumbs somewhere.  They are the epitomy of what was wrong with the team last year (aside from injuries ofcourse)

People on this blog have Tony Allen all wrong.   They expect him to be a 6th man and when he doesn't play as well as a 6th man they hate him.   TA isn't a 6th man, he is a 10th man, and a good 10th man at that.  He is a very solid player to take the 10th, 11th or 12th man role.  Just accept him for who he is.  He is 3rd on the team in tenure.   Also you have to love Tony Allen for his reverse alley oop dunk in Game 6 2008 Finals that put us up 43 points.  Yes 43 points.  And they wonder who the greatest franchise in sports is.

You need to find a couple zeros for your jersey then you can unstitch the "4," restitch the "2" add the zeros, and you have a Ray Allen jersey, fantastic.

It's just as a 10th man he will be required to come in for short stretches, and it seems he does his worst and most idiotic things in those moments.  I don't want Tony as my 6th man, my 10th man, or even my 12th man.  I'd rather have him as my "used to be on the celtics man."

I echo Roy's thoughts and would like to add a few of my own:

I wouldn't even give TA the benefit of calling whatever he has a "jumpshot". It's more like a jumping catapult without accuracy.

"Dumb mistakes" are being quite generous. He makes TERRIBLE DECISIONS time and time again when he has the ball in his hand. Seriously. He always goes for the tougher pass, forces a tougher shot, and takes very tough paths when he decides to take the ball to the rack. He simply cannot be trusted in ANY situation (clutch or non).

Fun Fact: TA is the only guy on the squad who got his championship ring fitted for his PINKIE FINGER.

Hate is a strong word, so I'll just go so far as to say I hate his game, his mentality, the decisions he makes, the fact that he hasn't improved at all since being drafted, and being the lone person responsible for increased security around the bench during the series with the Bulls.

I like Tony Allen. He's a very good defender, and a good slasher.

That said, I think it's time for him to move on. I'd like to see Danny sell him to a team below the cap in order to free up his roster spot.

No, I'm pretty sure it's reached Mark Blount level hatred.

wow hate is such a strong word for someone who has been a good supportive teammate.  He has his shortcomings but when it comes to injuries there aren't too many players who have had as back luck as he has the last few years even last year in his "recovery" year.  He had that what I think was a sprained ankle injury into the first month of the season that nagged him for a long long time.   In the middle of the season he had that wrist injury that we thought he recovered from.  Then towards the end of the year he didn't play at all and come to find out he had offseason surgery immediately after the season was over.  With no Posey  around maybe Doc would have given him a chance in the playoffs if he was healthy.  I don't like killing the guy when he has had such a string of back luck but I do acklowedge his shortcomings.

If we can trade Tony now for an upgrade I'm all for it however I would seriously consider playing him around 20 MPG during the first half of the season to up his trade value around the trade deadline when his contract would be more desirable anyway.  Most of us know he does play better when fully healthy and given ample playing time.  Maybe at that point you trade him.  I know it sounds crazy but I wouldn't put it past Danny thinking somewhat that.

TA is still a bad fit.

Trade him to a bad team that will let him start and get a ton of minutes.  He can be a fringe star (much like a Harvey Grant was for the Bullets)
