If there was that much interest he probably would have signed by now.
I've had this same thought.  I have a hard time believing he's getting a ton of great offers since nothing at all has happened to this point.

Actually that's not true. RFA's always get their contracts later. Milsap's the only person whose gotten an offer sheet yet. People just wait till the market's set (and also wait for a team to spend a lot of money).

It's actually weird that Josh Childress / Marvin Williams haven't been given offer-sheets yet. After Atlanta's spent so much money already, they're the least likely of the teams out there to match their RFA
While I think you have a valid point, isn't it strange that there is no scuttle in the rumor mill at all?

Well there was (though probably perpetrated by his agent) about the pistons, spurs, orlando. But it seems that they wanted to target UFA's first (spurs got mcdyess, pistons tried to get Bass but missed out to orlando).

I'm actually hoping he gets the QO, becuase it means he's playing his ass off this year.

If I am a rival GM, I'd rather get a starter at the 4: Odom, Millsap, Lee, Varajao

Or go get one of these reserves:
M Williams

None of those guys seems amiable to the MLE or below, which means all teams except Portland, Oklahoma City, and their current teams are irrelevant.

Why even bring them up?  They are pointless discussion points.

POR, OKL, MEM and their current teams = 7/30 NBA teams. Thats still a big percentage. Plus there is always sign and trade scenarios. And you never know if something goes sour and say Odom takes the MLE somewhere.

Anyway, to add onto this thread... I think the Davis numbers must be dropping. There is no way he's going to get 5 mil/year. Bass signed for about 4/year. Thats the ceiling.

Also there are still 6 RFA forwards I'd value higher or on an equal level with Davis out there: Lee, M Williams, Kleiza, Warrick, Childress, and Moon.

Joe Smith is still available.

I think Davis will be back in green within 2 weeks.

I agree entirely. Davis' price is dropping by the day, to the point where he might actually be resigned for a number he's worth.

A McDyess (at lease we've hear he is higher on the totem pole)
C Frye

They appear to be higher on the consideration set with the top teams.

I don't think Frye would be more sought after than Davis. Didn't he get under $2M? I doubt Davis would sign for that small a contract. He was probably chosen because he fit in their budget, not because he was seen as a great player.

I'd like to see him back, but I don't know it will happen that quickly. We definitely need more than 3 bigs. People are talking about using Davis in a sign and trade, but we'd need to sign someone to replace him then.

I think it's a no lose situation to be honest.

If his price is high we could possibly get something in a sign and trade.
If his price is low we can easily match.
If nothing then he takes the qualifying offer and plays a great contract year.

The only downside is the wait and see game, in which we could be focussing our attention on other free agents
