I think you have that backward, Lucky.  BYC means that our *outgoing* salary is cut to 50%, not the incoming.

(It's a long day, though, so my brain may not be working.  This stuff is complex.)
Roy see my questions above.  Doesn't it become less complex if the team we are dealing with has cap room?

If a team X has 10 mil in cap room, couldn't we give Glen a contract making 10 mil, trade him to Team X for a player making 5 mil and call it good?

Alright well... there was an article a couple weeks back that both memphis and detroit were interested in Glen Davis with their cap room.  Unfortunately Detroit already used up their cap room, I believe (on Charlie V and Ben Gordon)

Memphis doesn't make a lot of sense either, because I can't see them trading any of their players for Glen Davis.  However, I'm the wrong guy to ask, because I don't value Glen Davis at all.  From a purely financial standpoint, though... couldn't any of these work?

Glen Davis signs for 7.6 mil.  We trade him for Mike Conley making 3.8 mil.

Glen Davis signs for 6.4 mil.  We trade him for Rudy Gay making 3.2 mil.

Glen Davis signs for 6.4 mil.  We trade him for Marc Gasol making 3.2 mil.

Obviously all three of those are massively lopsided in our favor, but financially they work, right?

I would toss around the name Hakkim Warrick, but it appears he is a restricted free agent... and I sure as heck aint touching that.  Lol.

Financially, yes, those would work.

I think a mutual sign and trade for Warrick would work as well, provided Warrick were signed to equal to or less than the amount of Davis' new contract divided by 2, multiplied by 1.25, plus $100K (the maximum amount of incoming salary Boston could take). Memphis would have sufficient cap room to not have to worry about Davis' incoming salary.

Thanks for workin' on this, Lucky. As noted in my adjacent post, I'd be open to either the Wright (and Brown) deal or a Warrick deal. I'd also be open to keeping Baby for under 4mil a year. But if Wyc and Danny aren't, i think the Wright trade is good for both teams.

we've just been over this on a separate post. i maintain that Danny Ainge will NOT revert to haveing Posey back under those contract terms, not to mention that he passed on the guy last summer and is not the type to go back on that decision.

Hmmm...

So if we combine the Rondo for Rudy and Conley rumor with the Perk for #2 pick rumor... and then throw in Glen Davis in a sign-and-trade... you're saying we could do this, but that it would be utterly insane.

Gay (3.2 mil), Conley (3.8 mil), Thabeet (3.7 mil) = 10.7 incoming

for Rondo (2.6 mil), Perk (4.2) and Baby signed for 5 mil (2.5 outgoing) = 9.3 outgoing

 ;D ;D

I'd consider it if they also throw in Marc Gasol for Brian Scalabrine
