Spurs send: O.J Mayo, 10th rounder (27), 10th rounder (28)

Pistons send: Richard Hamilton, Matt Barnes, Jarrett Jack

i don't get it for either team, either.

i thought the suns had a nice nucleaus with hamilton at the 2 and the depth of barnes and jack...i think mayo is too much of a me-first guy to contribute to a win-now team.

BUT

i liked Mayo growing with rose.  I can't tell what the Spurs are aiming for right now.
I think they became a player in the Win Now category, Rose although young is a win now Point Guard IMO as we saw in the chicago series.  And now he matches rose with the two pieces from the win now real life detroit team.  His front court is sketchy though since AK47 can prob get abused by the better PF's in the league and Foster really is a backup C

There's no way they're a top-5 team in the league at this stage, is there?  They have solid roleplayers, but I don't think they're elite enough to be legit contenders.

the SW doesn't really have any imposing frontcourt players outside of Bosh (admittedly my own guys are more slashers/shooters) so i can see them competing, but winning anything more then maybe a round seems unlikely.

I think the Spurs won that trade, I don't see anyone left in the 10th round who can make up the gap in talent lost in trading Hamilton and Jack.

I'm not sure that Jack is that good.  He's mediocre, at best.  Hamilton is good, but he's not a star.

O.J. can be a star.

Personally all the guys the Spurs got might be backups this yr. Mayo is a great talent

The Seattle Supersonics select Corey Brewer, forward, University of Florida.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

OJ can be a star but he has made it known that he would like to transition to PG and how does that fit with Mo Williams?

Without getting into the trade --- which I haven't had time to digest --- Jack is better than Mediocre. He was better than yer boy TJ Ford for large stretches last season for the Pacers, when Obie would start Jack over him.

And i agree --- Mayo can/will be a star

Don't like it. He was probably due to be picked but this kid has progressed about as much as gerald green.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

Jack is better than most think.  He makes good decisions and can defend.  Hamilton is a championship caliber player, though one dimensional, and Barnes is a 7th man/glue guy.  While Mayo is good, he hasn't shown much beyond scoring yet.  While he's the best player in this trade, the gap between the players given up for Mayo and Mayo + two weak picks is considerable, in my opinion.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Jack is a good backup, to me, or a very mediocre starter.  He was a backup in Portland.  He'll be a backup in Toronto.

Thus, mediocre.
