Celtics select: Nene

The guy played in 77 games, shot .604 from the field and AVG 14.6 PPG with 8 RPG.

I called it. Phoenix Suns Also Rises!`

Huh?

Last year I picked Nene in like the 5th or something and said he'd be good.

That's why I've always said you should be an NBA scout or an ESPN analyst.   ;)

For people looking to move up and down in these later rounds I would like to say a word. I'm new to the game but as the rounds go down so does the talent drop off. In some cases dramatically.

Trading a 1st rounder for a 2nd and 3rd and more is good value due to the increase in talent. But as the talent decreases a 3rd rounder is no longer worth a 4th and 5th because the upgrade in talent is so much less. Tomorrow when we hit the 4th round the talent drops off even more.

Based upon past experience, I'm not sure this is always the case.  I think the "x for x+1 and x+2" formulation is always a pretty solid one.

Right now I doubt I'd pay an 8,9 for a 7, but when you really need a 7, see if you won't.

It's understood Nick but moving back two rounds (to your 5th) and the closest a 7th is still too much, there are lots of good players left.

A 5 and a 7 for a 3?  Yeah, that's terrible, terrible value at this point.  There are still excellent players on the board.

I reserve the right to change my opinion, though, if I'm the one trying to grab a third. ;)

Value is whatever someone is willing to give up.

The key is to know what you value picks and don't waiver.
