Ya, I'm sorry to be using up all the board with constant "Pacers are interested in..." but my work blocks me from using the chat or celticsblog home page.

With the 38th pick in the 2nd annual Celticsblog Draft, the Dallas Mavericks Select...

Josh "J-Smoooove" Smith

We graciously thank all GMs for their offers, but didn't get that "knocked our socks off."

I have a soft spot in my hart J Smoothe. I like the pick.

He was on my short list.

I know his basketball IQ has been put into question, but that crosses the line, sir.

Haha, we'll make sure the team bus is extra long.

I felt like Smith was one of, if not the, last cusp superstar on the board so we really had to go with him there.  Gotta love the fact that he's only 24.

Good pick for the location.  While I don't think you can build a team with him as the base, he is a star that can be a great addition to the base.

This'll be my last fawning over J-Smoothe for this entire thread, I swear. But what I like guys about Josh Smith is that you can add him onto your team, and he contributes immensely without having to be your #1 scoring option. There's plenty of scoring shooting guards and small forwards who can do that.

He also takes poor shots, is behaviorally unpredictable, and plays beyond his abilities quite a bit.

Again, he's only 24.  His offensive game is not completely refined yet, but lets not forget he's consistently among the top 15 in both blocks and steals.  One of the better help defenders in the league.

Is he an elite player now? No.  But as Roy referenced earlier, there's a group of about 5 elite players and maybe 10 more superstar players in this leauge.  When you're handed the 23rd pick in the draft, you have to make a few decisions...
I really like the pick, so much that I in fact tried to trade for the pick and take Josh Smith. He's perfect for an uptempo offense. He was injured much of the year, played through it and still put up good numbers. He is still very young.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Bad economy or no bad economy, that's grounds for quitting your job right on the spot ;)

Artest is great value at this spot. With Lebron in the division I can't believe Washington gave him up...

I also need time to expedite the trade once the confirms are received.  These things don't happen instantaneously and its not the owners' fault.

Artest is great talent at this point, although there's no denying that the man has some issues.
