I have a question and this isn't just about Grant Hill:

What's to stop a team from offering a veteran a three year contract even though they only want to play one year as a way to pay them more?  They could cut him a year later and the 2nd and 3rd years would be like a deferred payment.

The player might not want to be trapped on a cheap contract.

They'd be getting waived after the first year.

Basically. Tanguay isn't so confident about Hill anymore. Tanguay should of quit while he was ahead with Sheed.

Well if I was retiring in one year, I'd take a 3 year 6 million dollar deal with a promise to waive me in one year over a one yr 2 million dollar deal. But more power to you guava if you want to only take the 2 million.

Anyone else here think that Sean Grande is one of the best announcer/writer/commentators in all of sports?  I ****´ love the guy.

And if you´ve never read any of his ´from the booth´ pieces I highly recommend them.  They are always an fascinating read.
