Trade works and the salaries matchup almost perfectly.

Battie is also an expiring contract and will bring us back a 4th big.

From what i saw last year TBattie still had some in the tank.

Played in 77 games, started 3, TB had:

5pts, 3.6reb, 0.6 to's, and shot .489 in 15 minutes a game.

I do this in a hearbeat, plus it brings Scal back to where it all started.

What's the incentive for NJ?

TA's potential?

hell throw in a 2nd round draft pick as incentive, the only reason they got battie is for his expiring contract and to match up salaries with VC.

Wow, I just looked at the Nets payroll situation for next season.

http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/nets.jsp

Devin Harris' is the only fully guaranteed contract on the books for them next year. Everyone else is either non-guaranteed, team option, or qualifying offer/cap hold.

I knew they were jockeying for the free agent frenzy in Summer 2010, but that's ridiculous.

plus they can't possibly think they're making the playoffs. just cut Tony Battie so we can sign him.

Nets are looking to free up roster spots, not add more players. They need a substantial incentive to make a trade like this.

Is Scalabrine better than Tony Battie for the Celtics?

I think a mobile big man who can defend perimeter bigs has more value than a slow footed interior defender to the C's.

I'd rather have Scal over Battie - to fit in with Garnett, Wallace and Perkins. (Of course ultimately I'm hoping we retain Davis)

Swift has had some very nice blocks this half.

If we're taking on Battie's contract, then they'd have to throw in Courtney Lee too, otherwise forget that. Scal is a better shooter and better fit in our system for this trade.
Can't stop, Rondo!

He doesn't have the size that Battie has. And he can't rebound. Plus the Nets basically traded VC to get this kid...

It would lessen the wound Powe's loss in Boston caused. Battie would fit in perfectly here and in doing so we get rid of two trash players.

Don't get me wrong, i'd rather let BBD walk if he wants over 3 mil sign Powe to a minimum, and let Sheed get as much run as he wants until Powe can play again.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

No.  At this point, we'd be much better making an offer for Keyon Dooling.
