Read the comments as well.  Just interesting to see what non-green fans think of our players.

I think they sound exactly like green fans.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I actually don't disagree with the post.  Seems to make sense in their situation.

I'm not surprised. We are all more affected by how our players do in a playoff run than fans in other cities. We watch every second of those games, get inspired by the grit they showed without Garnett, then see that game winner and think Davis is gonna cash in. But not all eyes were on Boston this year. Everybody didn't see the same growth - they see a fat 40% jump shooter who made one wide open shot where he was left wide open for a reason. We were not considered a legit championship contender without Garnett and a lot of people would have mostly noticed Davis' inability to defend Rashard Lewis as a primary reason for our second round playoff exit. I don't think anybody sees Davis and thinks starter.

I'm actually shocked San Antonio has been linked to him at all - they need a starter, and they just drafted Blair who may be able to do a lot of things Davis did better than Davis could. I was shocked the Spurs didn't go after Gortat - I thought he would have been perfect there to start alongside Duncan.
Go Celtics.

I hear this talk about us signing the big baby davis, and I hope that the spurs have talked to the celtics front office and we’ve agreeded to sign davis, and trade him and finley or bonner or someone else other than the big 4 for kendrick perkins

Apparently this guy likes Perk, and of course why wouldn't he Perk is a beast.

But they all say that Baby duplicates what there team already has.  Actually they called him a Matt Bonner without a 3pt shot but better handling.

what about the birdman, I bet we could pick him up very cheap. third in blocked shots last year, coming off the bench. Or I,ve heard rumors that kendrick perkins may be gone as he has had a falling out with doc that may be why they pushed so hard for sheed

I noticed that too.  As well as the comment about possibly trading for Perk without giving up any of their "big 4 (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson)."  I'd love to see who else they think would suffice for Perk.

Count me as someone who is not impressed/interested in BBD.  I only want to sign him if we plan on trading him later in the season.  I liked him a lot better where he belonged... as a 3rd string big man.  But you don't pay 3rd string big men 6 million a year.

2 of those Orlando games BBaby was the best player on the floor for the Celts. Not saying he should be starting, but he's a great guy off the bench. Celts would be wise to resign him and I don't think it will take that much money.

Well, I think you are jumping to extremes here.  First, BBD is a good 2nd string big man.  He is not 6th man of the year, but he is a very good 2nd string player.  But you are right that he is not worth $6 million a year...but I don't think anyone is paying him anything close to that.  Tanguay is an idiot, there is not way the Spurs are offering him the MLE.

Woah, i disagree. Davis should be a 2nd big off the bench at this point. He had the opportunity to showcase his skills, and did a solid job. He'll be in the NBA for another 10 years as long as he stays healthy -  I guarantee it. ....3rd stringers don't stick around that long.

However I agree about the money. At the very best Davis is an 8th man. And no one should pay the MLE for an 8th man. I think the Davis to SA or ORL rumors are a puff of steam. Nothing to it. San Antonio in particular has a history of spending their money better than that.

16/4 is the max Davis should be worth. I think 14/4 or 10/3 is more appropriate.

Mr October - that's exactly why I never believed from the start the Spurs were interested in signing Davis at the full MLE. They need to bring in a starting big man, that's not Glen Davis. And a team that is renowned for its fiscal responsibility, while taking a risk on the highly-paid Jefferson, is not going to overpay a bench player on the basis of one playoff run that ended in the second round. San Antonio is too smart for that.
Go Celtics.

He was good playing behind KG and Powe as the 3rd string.

He is below average on defense.  He is a below average rebounder.  His offensive game is severely limited.  He has a mediocre jump shot if he's left wide open.   He doesn't really bring much as far as "intangibles".  Not that savvy of a player.

He was good for having a body out there that could knock down a wide open shot when Pierce, Ray and Rondo were commanding so much attention.  He also usually made his wide-open layups.  His lack of offensive game killed it for Ray and Pierce.  They were both swallowed up by defenses leaving Glen alone.   His lack of height and rebounding ability killed us against the Magic, because Dwight Howard could step up on his tippy toes, grab the rebound, and dunk on Baby's face.  Having him out there made things pretty darn difficult for Kendrick Perkins.

He got some points and a handful or rebounds in his bloated 48 minutes a game... but I wasn't impressed at all.   If he wants 2-3 mil a year to back up KG and Sheed as a 3rd string big man... I'm all for it.  Then when Powe comes back he can be our 4th string.

If the Spurs want him for the MLE then good riddance to bad rubbish.  I'm sure we could get the same kind of production out of Michael Sweetney or something given the circumstances.

I just can't believe some of the disrespect he gets from C's fans.  It's embarrassing really.

I'll trust DA to do the right thing.

Powe is done.

I'm callin it... we let BBD walk.  Then we sign Mike Sweetney to a minimum contract and everyone acts surprised at how effective he looks when next to three hall of famers.
