It sounds like Grant Hill wants to be in NY too.

Because of what? Money? Didn't he earn enough during his career? Oh, and the last time I checked, New York doesn't field a championship caliber team, and he doesn't have any rings.

I don't know what New England women are like. But every women I know would absolutely die to live in new york .

Heck my sister turned down full grad scholarships to MIT, Berkeley, Stanford etc. to get her PhD at Columbia so she could live in NYC. Which she currently still does.

Chicks love it, I blame Sex in the City.

I agree lots of women like NY. My fiancee lived there for 4 years and loves the city with all her heart. But the fact is we're not talking about retiring to a nice little NE town for the rest of their lives.

Grant is an NBA player. That's who his wife married. NBA players want to win championships if at all possible. She as someone who no doubt doubt derives great benefit from her husband's chosen line of work, should accept that 1-2 year sacrifice..

There are a lot of reasons for Grant Hill to go to New York and only one reason to go to Boston.  If he wants a shot at a title he goes to Boston, if he wants more money, more playing time, a bigger role, a bigger and better city, a place where is wife will be happier, etc. he goes to New York.  It really just comes down to how badly does Grant want a chance at a title.  If he feels his career is complete, or does feel like something is missing, etc. then why on earth would he go to Boston.

If Grant Hill were contemplating a choice between the Knicks and the Lakers, would this board be castigating him for caring more about his own fading career rather than being a good family man who is concerned about his wife?

I would agree that if the Knicks were even remotely decent, it would be MUCH easier decision. But the fact is the Knicks are still an abomination. They can't even pretend that they will be an 8 seed. This is a terrible, awful team that is waiting by the phone for LeBron.

Why would you spend your last two years in the league on a team like that when you have a chance for a ring? NY is not giving him the full MLE, just part of it. Is that how you want to be remembered?

I guess we'll find out..

Seeing how Hill has one or two years left in his career, and his wife can potentially sing for as long as she has her voice, I don't think it makes a lot of sense for them to choose NY over Boston.  One wonders why, if NYC is so important, the Hills haven't made an off-season home in NYC over the years.

That being said, it's a private decision.  People make career choices based upon a number of motivations, and I'll respect Hill's.

G-Hill's wife is Canadain. I think she'll give in to Grants wishes to join a CONTENDER as she knows she can sing in NYC for as long as she'd like once Grant retires.

Yeah, Grant's wife is hot. So what? Pretty much every NBA player has a smoking wife. It's not really a big deal..

NY is great if you are in your 20s and single.  It is not exactly the best city if you aren't.   The advantages it gives his wife are the presence of a lot of Broadway opportunities, which is great for aging stars.  Hell, Debbie Gibson has had a better career than her first one going down this route.

Going to NY on a 1 year contract is his prerogative.  I wouldn't do it if I were him, but the pressures from home might force a decision.

I don't know how much time she actually spends recording, schmoozing, performing etc...but it's only a 4 hour ride to New York from Boston.  She could spend that long stuck in traffic in New York!

From Long Island where I live it took me 3.5 hrs to get to Boston a few weeks ago. ;D

Fair enough.  I think my trip time was from Cape Cod.  Although I seem to recall having an endless trip to the other end of Long Island one time  ;)
Yup

The Knicks were 7 games out of the playoffs last year, not 30.  Sure they had some teams to jump, but a number of the teams ahead of them will be appreciably worse next year (NJ, Detroit, Milwaukee) and if the Knicks retain Robinson and Lee they will be better than they were last year.  Sure they won't be winning a title, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see New York in the playoffs.

grant hill's wife, tamia, is a R&B singer from detroit who suffers from MS.

if your wife had a disease as serious as multiple sclerosis, i think you would want her to feel comfortable and be close to her.  to be honest, i am surprised grant hill is willing to move as much as he has the last couple years.  i would not blame him for any decision he makes regarding his wife.
