Not crazy about Grant Hill

Fellow Fans:

Is the interest in Grant Hill a kind of Doc Rivers, "Aw shucks, Grant we had a bad time  together in Orlando, but join us for the party" comraderie?
 Can  he cover Kobe, Le Bron, Artest, Turkolou?  Is  he  an "old Jordan"
still very capable of producing or are we just bringing in a good guy?
R Wallace addition is  fine but this  time  around we've  got LeBron and  Shaq...and they may not be done ( like a big fast off-guard who can defend- Artest would have been frightening here)..(suppose thet get Rip Hamilton?). We still need a Brad Miller  type  to back up Perk and an Outlaw  type to back up Pierce.

And to continue the thread to improve  the team...everybody should  shut up who criticise  Rondo.  He will drive  opponents  crazy  for years so long as we keep him here.  He's  going to be, no,  is, phenomenal and we should  pay him very top dollars as soon as feasible to keep him.

We cant go wrong with Grant Hill! He is hungry for a title, still has above average wheels & is only about 32 yrs. old B-Ball wise due to all the time he has missed over the years. So he has alot left in the tank & hasn't played the same amount of games as a normal 37 yr. old grizzled veteran has. I live in Phoenix & watched Grant for the past 2yrs & he was easily the most consistent Phoenix Sun in that time frame & didn't miss any games due to injury. I think & hope that is a thing of the past & he is comepletly healthy.

I'm with KG_ended_Bias. I live in Phoenix as well and even though I am not a Suns fan I was really excited to see him play all 82 games this year. I honestly want Grant more than Sheed, but both would be great. Grant Hill played extremely well for the Suns last season and it was disappointing not seeing him get a chance at the playoffs.

Why not? He can still fill it up occasionally, he could come in and spell Pierce, probably put up oh I don't know, 10 points, 4 rebounds off the bench? I'll take that.

Me Too the key thing is that he would Spell Pierce who was Exausted by the end of the season he needs Rest Grant Hill would provide that off the bench i really want this to happen in fact im praying it does..

I think some people forget just how great a player Grant Hill was. I'm not that old, really but I have seen a lot of old Grant Hill game tapes. He's had a lot of trouble with injuries, and yes he is getting too old for the NBA, but he is still packing a lot of talent in that body of his.

And like someone said, he's better than Tony Allen.

I can't say i'm salivating at the thought of either the 'sheed or grant hill moves, but I am cautiously optimistic.  But I agree that Hill doesn't fit the mold of a defensive-minded guy off the bench, and I don't see who we currently have that would guard Kobes or lebrons (or john salmonses for that matter).

Guys off the bench generally guard guys off the bench. They don't guard Kobe or Lebron. Players like that are defended through good team defense. Don't forget 2008.

I like Grant Hill as an offensive leader off the bench.  I think they will count on guys like Tony Allen (I hope not), Walker, and/or Giddens to do most of the heavy lifting defensively with the second unit.  Hill wouldn't really cover the Lebrons until the playoffs (and hopefully he will be fresh, so he can give them some trouble).

Personally, I love this signing if it happens, because what this team desperately needed on their second unit was a versatile offensive player to compliment all of the one dimensional players they had on their bench.  And between Sheed and Hill, they are now adding 2.

I share Chris's view on Hill. Perfect offensive wing backup who can distribute the ball well and create his own shot. Plus, Hill is consistent.

However, I would prefer Barnes over Hill because I must admit I'm really worried about Hill's health, even if he plays 20-25 min per game. And also, I just can't see him defending on LeBron in the playoffs... he defends well overall but he would get torched by LeBron. I know you can't stop LeBron anyway but you must at least slow him down and I don't see Hill capable of doing that. And we desperately need a wing who can guard LeBron since Paul will be tired really soon if he's got to score on the Cavs and defend well on LeBron for 40 minutes.

Anyway, Hill would be a great signing because he would be cheap (veteran minimum?), bring a lot of consistency and scoring to the bench, and I'm a big fan of Hill anyway so I would be glad to see him in green.

There's no question that Sheed and Hill are dramatic offensive upgrades off the bench - assuming that's where Sheed ends up.

But ... I'd still like to add a defensive specialist at the 3 whose brain won't vapor-lock in crunch time. That would not be Tony Allen.

If they add Hill, they take pressure off House and the team to find a 2nd PG. 

Hill has the skills to run an offense, allowing House to be the spot up shooter he is. 


And with Wallace and Hill, the Celtics can rest the 3 stars without the offense grinding to a halt.
