As long as the man signs the contract who cares right?  :)

I am shocked he he is not going to the income tax free state!

Nobody tell Sheed we are Taxachusetts until he signs!

Anyone else notice that the C's signing Rasheed was just a side note on espn now.
Last week Sheed was the Big Chip in Free Agentcy now he is just a after thought. Experts on that show were raving about how Sheed would make the contenter the Favorite to win it all next season. Now it's almost a non story. WHY is that?

I have been saying this was happeing over the weekend but I figured that they were waiting for him to sign before they brought out the Experts and Raved about how this would put the C's over the top and now be the team to beat but now that it has happened why are they acting it's another average guy going to a average team.

Faker conspiracy...It's always about the Fakers.
Really though do they think people are stupid or something. I mean you would have had to had your head in the sand to not notice the hype he was generating coming into freeagentcy. How do they get away with this stuff. I think some billionare needs to start up a new 24 Sports Channel to smartin up ESPN and hold them to some sort of integraty.
We are just one team in one of many sports. Sheed is on the front of the NBA page. Of course the winner of Wimbledon is on the front page of ESPN.com!

There is even a link to Rasheed's agent's video saying Rasheed will sign with the Celtics on the ESPN front page. How is that a slight? They clearly consider it their #1 NBA story at the moment.

AHH I am talking about the Sports Center show. You guys that defend ESPN make me chuckle. I mean they are obviously a front runner station which makes me sick. If I live in Nebraska I want the same coverage of the Cornhuskers as the Buckeyes. Thats what I am talking about. Not just Boston. If you can't see there bias then I don't know what to tell you. Thats how I feel and I pointed out what they did and what they are doing now. Sheed was a huge story before free agentcy started and ever since he got linked to the Celtics they stoped hypeing him. FACT. Also if he was gonna be linked to the Cavs you can bet your bottem doller he would be the top story Federer be dammed.

come on...did you watch the wimbledon finals? 16-14 in the final set! federer winning for the most grand slam titles of all time (let's not mention that bjorg rarely, if never, played the australian, laver being an amateur, etc. etc.) but that is truly the number one sports story of the day. an amazing match and one of the most dominant athletes of all time...i know you were a bit tongue in cheek, i just want to talk a little tennis :)

That was stellar tennis.  Right up there with Borg vs McEnroe tiebreaker!

A situation as groundbreaking as the Sheed signing during this offseason was the Pistons signing Gordon and CharlieV and I feel like they both got the same coverage. I mean, there might be some of that, oh man Sheed is an **** to reporters meaning they wont cover the signing as much, but I dont suspect it.

I am sorry but my tv is on sports about 22 out of the 24 hours of the day and I am home all day so. If you feel like they both got same coverage as the Gordan and the CharlieV coverage then you seriously mistakein they just about led off the show with that move. The Sheed signing got 30 seconds and the other 30 went to Kidd going back to Dallas.

If they did'nt say the night before freeagency started that the BIGGEST GUY in freeagency was Sheed then I would be fine with the coveage but they did and now they act like it's no big deal. WHY IS THAT. tell me why in less than a week he went for the biggest guy to just a afterthought. Your right tommorrow there will be more coverage of this but that because there is about 20 shows that talk about the same thing all day, but this show I am talking about is a 90 min SportsCenter and they have already talked about the Soxs game twice and tennis 4 times. So why in 90 mins does the Biggest name in free agentcy (ocording to ESPN) signing with the Cetics get 30 seconds? Somebody tell me why that is.

This has nothing to do with him signing with the Celtics and everything to do with ESPN Calling him the Biggest Free Agent available a week ago and now they act like he is chopped liver thats all. Just wondering why that is. I can't beleave more of you arent asking the same thing? Guess I should'nt care but call me crazy I do.

a) its a sunday night after a packed weekend of sports: steve mcnair, wimbledon (and history made at that event), full baseball weekend, the nba still in rumour and will be happening stage, i.e. no press conferences to show, tiger woods, etc etc. that is a lot to cover and thus most stories get short pieces. it is hard to say federer and mcnair are not the two biggest stories of the day.

b) espn is a joke and more concerned with entertainment than sports news. so i don't really care what espn has to say.

c) i care a lot more about the 'sheed being on the celtics than i do how that is covered by espn.

Then why are you posting in this tread if you don't care? Also it was a huge day in sports but suposidly Sheed was a Big deal in the free agent market. Would'nt that make him worthy of more than 30 seconds of sportscenter and why not trot out atleast 1 so called expert to say something about the signing?

What everyone is forgetting is the latenite sportscenter is a L.A. based sports center. With 2 guys that grew up on the west coast. I honestly feel that those guys are absolute Laker fans so why worry about it! Just because they are commentaters & supposed to be nuetral on camera doesn't mean they actually do. They were pretty darn giddy after the Lakers won in the finals & absolutly stoked when they signed Ron Artest. So much so that they had him practically break the news on Sportscenter in the studio on camera. So I dont care if ESPN L.A. under sells us as long as we kick L.A. & Cleveland's rear ends when it matters the most. Then you best believe we will get those well deserved props!

Let's go Sheed, Grant & hopefully Marbury

Great points, TP.  Everyone knows that ESPN is all about playing to the audience.  It's all about business for them.  Let's just be happy that we have a legit back-up big now, and we'll worry about the ESPN coverage later.

Who does Stephen A work for now?

I agree about the first point.  It is not the best timing for this to get the most coverage, but obviously Rasheed and the Celtics aren't worried about that, which is good.

Yesterday had one of the most historic and most dramatic tennis matches of all time.  That is always going to get a ton of coverage.  It also had Tiger winning a golf tournament.  That also takes precedent on a Sunday.

Unfortunately there was also new news about the McNair homicide.  That should take precedent over everything any day.

Are we not allowed to post on this thread if we do not agree with you?

He was giving a possible explanation to why ESPN covered the signing lightly so far. I happen to agree. Sportscenter gives the summary of what happened in the day which was packed with more intriguing things that happened. If you want in depth coverage, skip sportscenter and head right here for CB! ;)
