You don't remember the name. I'm sure Kevin Garnett remembers. On Dec 26, Marco was raining 3pointers and KG wasn't too fond of that and decked him.

Well that not the point, but I wanted to remind of him. He is one of 7 to 9 guards on Warriors Roster. Marco is listed @ 6'5, but has the ability to play PG, SG, and SF.
Scouting Report
Quote
Very nimble player with good speed...Crowd-pleaser with trademark spin moves and dunks, showing great confidence in shots along the perimeter...Doesn't drive often, but has the explosion to defeat the defender coming off the dribble, elevating well with touch to finish...Uses his long arms well to get his shots above the rim...Ambidextrous and has no problem pushing the ball up court...Has good lateral range and hesitation moves to get the defense off its feet...Has enough ball-handling skill to put in decent minutes at the point without getting into trouble...Has a very quick release and can pull up, set his feet and fire comfortably from mid-range...Shoots well from a set position and is limber enough to take a shot off the dribble...Decent defender who keeps his long arms active looking for the steal...Best when playing in one-on-one situations but struggles at times handling the defensive switch...Likes to have the ball in his hands in clutch situations as he knows he has the range to fire, even when under pressure...Loves when a bigger, slower forward comes out to defend him on the perimeter, as he then uses his array of pump fakes and hesitation moves to get his opponent off-balance before taking the uncontested shot over his man...Can lead the team on the fast break, but must not get too fancy with his passes.

I think he would be a nice addition @ the 2, and the possibility of playing the point. Warriors almost packaged him with Curry, but backed out because of Curry's "potential". We can use his skills in multiple positions, and easy to obtain.

edit: I just changed the title, so people don't think this is a trade that actually happened. - Chris

I am a huge fan of Belinelli.  I think he is a young Brent Barry.  He can shoot, is a very good athlete, and has the ability to run an offense at times.  I think he has been wasted, as Nelly continues to jerk him around, but unfortunately, I also think he is not going to be given away.  Remember, the trade where he was supposed to be part of, also had Amare coming back to Golden State.  It was not like they were going to give him away for nothing.

I remember when he lit up the summer league a couple years back.  I would be fine with him and House in the game together as backups spreading the floor but we don't really have the roster spots available for him right now.

Well, he is a better player right now, and a better long-term prospect than Giddens, Walker, and Pruitt, so I don't think roster space is the problem.  The problem is he is on another team's roster.

  • Rondo = Good
Unfortunately I don't see a trade we could make that would help the Warriors clear up space on the wings (with their mess of guards and small forwards) because the only players we'd be willing to trade are guards and small forwards, and we'd have to trade at least a couple of them to equal Bellineli's talent.

Plus, the Warriors might have a ton of SG's and SF's, but Nellie's idea of a basketball team is pretty much all SG's and SF's anyway, so for the Warriors it's not that big of a problem.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

GSW wanted to trade Belinelli and Azabuike for Raja Bell because they are looking for more defensive players, so they might be interested in TA for Belinelli...

I really like Belinelli and think he would be a great fit here...

Don Nelson likes to take no names and mold them into stars just ask Anthony Morrow. A package of JR & Gabe could do. JR and Gabe will play the nobody role with potential of becoming a somebody in that system.

I agree. I would take Azabuike as well.

yeah, it seems like there is a report out there that Belinelli is being pursued by the Cs....got me kinda excited because I really like Belinelli.

personally what i try to use is "idea" in the title....not a big deal, though.

on the idea front:

in order to make decent offer for Bels, I think you would either need to offer them an upgrade of some sort or take back a bad contract.

the only bad contract they really have is Maggette which i really can't see us taking on, and I don't think we really can offer them an upgrade outside of our starters. they already have interesting young prospects, so i can't see them being interested in Walker or JR or Pruitt...

Don't know that I agree with that. I think the longterm potential of all 3 of our guys are better than belinelli. He's had long enough to show something in a free-wheeling offense like in Golden St and I have yet to be impressed. JR's defensive potential alone makes him better in my opinion but I suppose that opinion is a moot point anyway since this has little likelihood of happening.

Belinelli is a Flopper of Varejao type proportions....or bigger.
