You have to look at taking advantage of the knicks refusal to committ cash set aside for the 2010 FA bonanza.
I am a HUGE Nate Robinson fan. He gets a ton of steals, passes well (although he's not a true pg), and he'a explosive on offense. He's also freaking KRYPTONATE and Howard must be destroyed. He is exactly what we need off our bench. Then there is David Lee, double double machine, young and still improving. Also, there is Al Harrington who would also be a great versatile big who rebounds surprisingly well for a guy who likes to shoot the 3.
I feel like we could get younger and make good additions on the cheap.
Is it possible to sign and trade for Lee and Nate? What will they see for offers? I don't know if the rules allow for it but what about Ray for both of these guys? Move Paul to SG and this is where I'll get screamed at but... move KG to SF. KG prefers to play off the wing and elbow and he has the ability to guard SF's. From there the possibilities are endless, and we become a super deep team:
Rondo
PP
KG
Lee
Perk
If we get Sheed, all the better! You can basically do any combination of Perk/Sheed/Lee that you want at the 4 and 5 AND have KG on the floor. Or you can Keep KG at the 4 and play Scal or Billy Walker at SF and then have Sheed, Lee and Nate go nuts off the bench. Those three on our benh ensure a healthy KG and PP for the playoffs. Maybe BBD will be here to join them, if not we're still deep. All of a sudden your bench can defend and score:
Nate
House or TA
Scal
Sheed
Lee
You could go real crazy and try to get Nate, Lee AND Harrington. All you have to do is add some or all of our other expiring deals; Scal, TA, House, Walker, Giddens and/or Pruitt.
I think the knicks would be all over it. Ray Allen is still good, and they really can't committ to Nate and Lee anyway. Ray makes over 18 Mil. I don't think it's unreasonable to offer Nate 5-7 Mil for 3-5 years, and Lee 8-11 for 3-5 years. If Lee and Nate's value is on the lower end then you have to try to get the Nicks to add Wilson Chandler to boost up the money. He's a player, he's versatile, imporoving and expiring, so that we be asking a bit much.
Is it even possible, I don't know. But I love Nate and Lee, and I believe they can be had for a pack of skittles an expiring contracts.
