If Dallas is really interested in Big Baby, could we pull off this S&T?

BOS: receives Stackhouse
DAL: receives Davis signed for 3-4M, Tony Allen, future pick

Stackhouse would become our primary backup at the 2 and 3, as he has decent size.  Also of note, if we could get this done quickly, could his presence in Boston further help in the recruitment of Rasheed?  After all, they were Tar Heel teammates...

After that, sign a Diogu-like player and Danny's favorite in Swift.

Roster:
C: Perk, Rasheed, Swift
PF: KG, Diogu, Scal
SF: Pierce, Stackhouse, Walker
SG: Ray, House, Giddens
PG: Rondo, ???, Hudson/Pruitt

Stackhouse is washed up and old.

If we might lose Big Baby anyway, you wouldn't take a one-year flier on Stackhouse?  His contract is up after this coming year.  Tony is useless.  If it is me, I take a chance on him.

This is a horrible trade. TA > Stackhouse. We just gift them Big Baby. And we also give them a future pick? No thanks.

I would rather have Dampier coming back. There were a few articles saying the Mavs were looking to move him because they were going to sign Gortat for the MLE.

Bos sends: BBD S+T ,Scal , TA ( But not sure if you can include other players when a S+T happens)

Dal Sends: Dampier

Dampier has a 10 MIL expiring contract too. He would be a great backup to Perk and could become a very good trading chip later in the season.

PG: Rondo   / Vet Min
SG: Ray     / House
SF: PP      / Grant Hill( Vet Min)
PF: KG      / Rasheed (MLE)
 C: Perk    / Dampier ( 10 MIL Expiring)

I think we would need to include Scals as well to make the salaries work. Also they are the ones that should be giving us a pick. The benefit is we would go from having about 8 million in expiring contracts to about 10 million.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

According to ESPN:
Baby at 4M + Tony at 2.5 M = 6.5M
Stackhouse at 7M

That should be enough or am I wrong?

That doesn't work cap wise. If we did a sign and trade for BBD it would be at his BYC number which is between 1.5-2 million. That plus the 6 million TA and Scal make is only 8 million so we couldn't take 10 million back.
Here's a question for our salary guys on this blog if we do a Ta, Scal and BBD trade and we get back less than we sent do we get a trade exemption? If this is the case we could get a 7.5 million expiring contract from Stack plus a million exemption.

Wow, a TA fan.  Didn't know there were many of those around...  Future pick could be a second rounder or don't include it at all.  Does that change your mind?

Where did you see the 4 million for BBD? With a sign and trade you only count the signed and traded player's salary as their qualifying offer?
Espn's trade machine only has last years numbers, stack makes 7.5 this year.

Gotcha.  Thanks for the clarification.

Stack's contract is only partially guaranteed, so it's a significant trading asset. If we end up losing Davis, I'd want to recoup a chip like that.

Is Stackhouse even healthy.  I noticed he only played 10 games last year and averaged 4.2 PPG.   I would consider this if it were the Stackhouse of at least 3 or 4 years ago but I highly doubt it now.   If we do a sign and trade of BBD I would expect more back for someone who averaged 16 PPG in the playoffs.

No thanks.  I'd rather pay BBD $4Mil.
