If it would make him sign with the C's would you mind Danny offering him a starting role?  I know Perk is a tremendous starting Center, but if it could get Sheed to sign with the C's I wouldn't mind. Perk would be a great 1st big man off the bench . Of course I would rather have Perk starting, but if it lands Sheed I would consider it. We could always change it around after Sheed signs, trick him into signing here !!  ;D

No.  Perk needs to start.  If Sheed can't get accept a bench role that'll probably give him 25+ minutes a night, then he's no good here.

No. I happen to think Perk would make a great off the bench weapon and as Red use to say, it doesn't matter who starts the game, it is who finishes the game that counts.

There are no automatic starting jobs - for Sheed or Perk. I'd be willing to tell Sheed he can come to camp and win the 5.

starting..not starting....Sheed will get major minutes on this team. hopefully he sees how valuable he could be here.

KG and Perk both should not be playing more than 32 MPG...and I for one wouldn't have a problem giving the majority of the remaining 32 MPG to Sheed.

I wonder if this is something Big Baby is looking at because I would bet that he would not be psyched to be in the 10-12 MPG range.

Bye Bye Sheed! Perk and Rondo are the past, present, and the future of the Celtics. Sheed can hit the road if he thinks about starting over perk. We did it without Sheed, and we can do it again without him.

KG will probably play less and there will be more time for Gino to dance on the jumbotron.

I expect a lot more blowouts :)

Sheed might finish a lot of games too if he meshes well. At Sheed's age, less minutes sounds like a good thing, though he will want to be on the floor at key moments.

If he hasn't offered it, he should. Sheed will be great for us as a starter, not because of his contributions, but because he'll make the rest of our starters (especially offensively) a lot better. Plus he's not weaksauce defensively.

Anyone remembers how good our starters looked with Scal in there?

In terms of the OP's question, I think Perk should maintain his starting role purely because we've built a great chemistry with that starting unit.  I wouldn't want to touch that.

But you are right Nick.  It is often claimed that "it's not about who starts the game but who finishes it."  And Doc has shown for the past few seasons now a hesitancy to leave Perk in the game down the stretch run.  There are plenty of minutes to be had by Sheed, especially because he can play the 5 next to Garnett or the 4 next to Perk and spell either of them.  He also can be the guy whose in there when the game is on the line as Posey/Baby/Powe have been the last few seasons.

I'll give him the starting job, I actually prefer him for starting center than Perk

I'd be fine with it if he only offered a chance to compete not a sure starting job. it would have to be a starting role that Perk could take over at any time if he doesn't perform.

The GM shouldn't be determining the starters.

Also, Perk is a better starting center and complement to KG.

You're going to need more than Rasheed.

I guess those soft LKERS can never win a CHAMPIONSHIP, that's what you said at the begining of the year what happened?

That was before we got the BEAST, Ron Artest!!!

Know what? Resort to name calling? Ok you can call us THE CHAMPS or DEFENDING CHAMPS it's your choice.

What you got to say now! I'm sure you heard that before, HA, HA,HA, that's funny to me.

I forget, what is the definition of trolling again?

Also, you are right, the LKERS will never win a championship until a new franchise is started with that name.  The Lakers on the other hand, yeah, they can win a championship.  Plus, in my humble opinion, if you lose Odom, Artest to replace both Ariza and Odom is a downgrade.

Congrats on getting Artest though, and showing some semblance of maturity.  Welcome to the blog.  All of your points are very well suited to the discussion going on in this thread.
