I don't like it generally, but against a team with no shot blockers it might be a good idea. Paul and Rondo could eat up some of the poorer on the ball defenders and get to the line. Keeps Perk out of foul trouble. However, Perk's only going to get better and he got MUCH better last season. SO, no, but he'll get a few.

Here's the real question, how is Sheed going to affect Perk's tech's? It's going to be out of control.

This is a great question.  The only way I can see NOT getting Sheed is because at San Antonio he'd be a starter.

What would I do?  If that's what it takes, sit Perk.  But in my opinion, I think Sheed has to be sold already.  I have trust in PP, KG, RA, DA, Doc and Wyc.  If these guys want him this bad, then Sheed must be a pretty good guy as well as a very good player.  If he really is a good guy he'll know that Perk should start.

How do we know Sheed wants to start?  Maybe he'd be happy making the same $5.8 mil for less work?

I would welcome Sheed starting over Perk if he proved he deserved it. I dont think Perk has much to worry about if that were the case though.

Woo woo!  What a predicament!  Sheed for 6th man of the year?  Or Perk for sixth man of the year?   ;D

Danny can't offer Wallace a starting role. All he can do is offer a contract. Doc Rivers is Coach of the Celtics. He decides who starts and makes all game decisions. That's why Danny and Doc have such a good relationship. Also, if Wallace started it would have to be in place of Perk or KG. Wallace is not a true Center and he won't start in place of KG. The one effect the signing of Wallace could have on the team is the decision made by BBD. He could be the odd man out.

If its the difference between signing Rasheed then I'd give it to him.  That's how badly the celtics need him.

However, I feel that the best starting 5 is with Perkins b/c of the following:
 - Perk finishes around the rim better (off of drive assists from rondo, or good ball movement)
 - Wallace's offensive game is much better than Perkins', and would be very effective off the bench with major minutes
 - The other 4 starters provide excellent offense, so Rasheed's offense wouldn't be as vital.

I would cite chemistry too, but I don't think that'd be a major issue with Rasheed's skill level and experience.  He'd fit in quickly.

I don't think Sheed would even want that... I don't think he wants to come in and ruffle feathers like that...

We can offer him a finishing job!

Another thing we can offer is more shots at Detroit!!

I hope not, Perkins is a much better player than Wallace ... but if Perk doesn't have a problem with it, then I don't.

Perk is such a perfect fit for KG.  He is the brute force on defense next to KGs high energy defense.  He fits that role so good.

Wallace, while he would be great starting next to KG, is more dangerous coming off the bench for the Celtics.  He would either go against the guys that might be a little more tired dealing with KG or Perk or be going up against the other teams 3rd big man.  And what team has a 3rd big man that can match Wallace?

More to the point, if Wallace is as interested in history like his agent says, Boston is the place to sell the importance of the 6th man.  Hondo, Mchale and Walton.  3 of the top 50 all time players, coming off the bench on title Celtics teams.

Seems to me that Doc tries it out both ways and determines which works best and Perk and Sheed live with it.

Just tell Rasheed, if he wants to start, all he has to do is beat KG out of his spot.

If it would make him sign with the C's would you mind Danny offering him a starting role?  I know Perk is a tremendous starting Center, but if it could get Sheed to sign with the C's I wouldn't mind. Perk would be a great 1st big man off the bench . Of course I would rather have Perk starting, but if it lands Sheed I would consider it. We could always change it around after Sheed signs, trick him into signing here !!  ;D

This is the wrong question.  The question in my mind is can  Rasheed successfully adapt to coming off the bench.  Some starters do not make the transition to a bench role well, especially at Sheed's age.  I think his defense will be solid starter or bench, but how his offensive game responds will be the question.

On the Celtics, he will get more touches as a bench player vs playing as as a starter where he will be the 4th option.
