If the Sheed deal doesn't happen, what is DA's backup plan?

C's would need a 4,5 and possibly a 1.
I'm still high on Birdman LLE & Big Baby MLE.
I would be actually thrilled if DA grabbed these guys as a start.
These two bring it every night. Emotional guys that love to play and win.

Add a healthy Grant Hill LLE, and we are good to go to the atleast the Eastern Conference Finals.

I have read they are interested in Chris Wilcox, who is basically a little bit taller version of Leon Powe. For his career he has averaged 9PPG, 5RPG on 52% FG'S in only 20 Mins per game. Those are pretty good stats for such few mins. I think he woulc be a good pick up. Then McDyess is another one .

I'd throw some cash at Birdman over Wilcox. I think Birdman wants to stay in Denver but if we throw him a decent contract he'll come.

Where did you hear that from? I love Wilcox and think he would be a good fit. Not sure if he's a taller version of Leon Powe. I don't think he has near Leon's post moves but he has serious hops and can finish in traffic as well as board.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I made a thread about it last night

But the Suns are recruiting as a lottery team, albeit a 46-36 one. They will have a hard time competing with San Antonio, Boston, Cleveland and Atlanta for McDyess. Boston is interested in Wilcox. Denver talked to Frye at midnight Wednesday. Fabricio Oberto, waived by Detroit, could be of interest to the Suns once he clears waivers Tuesday.

I loved Wilcox in college at Maryland and he really didnt get a chance to play much in the NBA.

OKC to NO HORNETS - BACK TO OKC - to NYC in 2 weeks.

I was really hoping DA grabbed him last year before he got dumped to NY.
I was upset he got traded to NO, but then relieved he was available, and upset again NY got him. The C's ended up with Moore who was useless in the playoffs and didn't play often if at all.

I think he would sign for the LLE, and be Leon like for the C's.

The danger is not just failing to get Sheed, but having to wait a long time before he makes a decision. At what point do we pick up a sure thing instead of waiting?

Another situation where Ainge is in a no-win situation if we don't get Sheed. If he doesn't wait, people will complain that we didn't wait for the best guy (a la Joe Smith, for whom there is no evidence we had a chance) or people will say we waited too long and missed out on other players by not paying them more attention.

I hate this time of the year. Overly stressful.

There are a few options.  Since we wouldn't have blown the entire midlevel on one guy we could go after a few guys for more than the minimum but not as high as the midlevel.  Maybe get two for one, and then add another guy at the $1.8 mil exception.  We could maybe get two or three of the following players:

Rasho Nesterovic
Marquis Daniels
Linas Kleiza
Von Wafer
Matt Barnes
Rodney Carney

If we could get Rasho for the 2 mil, Daniels for 3.6 mil and Carney for the 1.8 mil exception would could still use Tony and Scal's contracts for a solid player and keep Eddie and Baby for the other two positions.  I think Daniels would be the perfect player to complement Eddie in the backcourt.  Not sure if used the right spelling of "complement".  He might be saying, "Hey Eddie, nice shot!".  I think that's a compliment though.

Hill, Mcdyess, and Marbury sounds fine! Hill and Mcdyess split the MLE, and Marbury gets the LLE?

Unfortunately this is a very valid topic, which scares me b/c I think Rasheed would be a perfect fit and fill multiple holes.

If they don't, they may go after Marion (who is unrestricted as of this morning).  But, I wouldn't tie up that much money in a player who can't play center.

Personally I'd hope they:
-let BBD walk
-sign McDyess
-get a decent backup PG
-sign grant hill

That's a lot to ask, and the quality free agents who could have a good impact on the Celtics are disappearing quickly :(

I hate how real this thread is. Sheed is the only legit piece that we could add to this team. We need front court depth and no one else can bring what Sheed brings to the table.

If Wallace goes elsewhere, BBD must be resigned and we'll have to fill the gaps with cheap vets after that.
